ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Maybe you replaced the wrong belt?
If not try putting some type of spray for the belt on it.
Also you might need to tighten it.
If you didn't get it tight enough when you replaced it it will still make that annoying sound.
Thats all I can think of checking right now if I remember anything else or find anything else I'll update you.

Tighten the belt. I did the same thing last weekend, but squeeled when you first start the car up, if I turned off the A/C it would stop. So I tightened the A/C - ALT belt and all is fine now. Belt dressing won't work.
          Tighten the belt.

It's not a serpentine belt, it's either an alternator belt or it's a power steering belt. If you have A/C then the alternator belt runs that, too.
So, if it's making noise when the engine is cold or when you start the A/C, tighten the belt. Check the belt tension by pressing against the belt (ENGINE OFF!!!) at it's longest span. The belt should be firm, deflecting no more than the specs UP and DOWN (actual specs from a HAYNES manual is :Alt belt with A/C --NEW BELT 3/8 to 1/2 inch. P/S belt is the same spec.)

FYI--I had a terrible, hard to diagnose squeal from my belts last fall. I tried everything, belt dressing, readjustment, new belts, but it still squealed. Just in case your's is hard to silence, check the CRANK PULLEY. It's actually two pieces of metal held together with a RUBBER DAMPER which dampens vibration. My pulley had the rubber part dry out and fail and it would have come apart had it not been for the P/S belt in place preventing the Alt belt and outer portion of the pulley from coming right off. When I swapped the engine out last month, it was quite apparent the damage the dead pulley caused to the timing belt cover which is what it was rubbing against--and not very quietly!!

If it wasn't squealing before but it's squealing now, it's most likely because it's slipping on the pulley because it's too loose. the alt belt is slightly too loose.

I'd skip the belt dressing and tighten it a tiny bit more and see if the squeal goes away or gets better.

                  belt dressing, hmmmm sounds jummy

either way, belt dressing is the same as, a/c stop leak, head gasket sealant, radiator repair, "engine honey" (thicker than asphalt) and all those billy mays advertised products.

they're made so people without knowledge buy them.

belt dressing, is a thick goeey substance that when applied make the belt stick.

radiator stop leak, is just powder that when wet creates a nasty substance too, thats too thick to pass throughout the radiator.

engine honey, is just 50w motor oil, trust me ur motor will never leak with this product.
