Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Thinking about header upgrades

So my Dad says that my header needs replacing. I looked aorund on car part and stock headers cost $115 from the junk yard. That sounded a bit high so I checked the vendor review section and found k2 motors and they have new headers for $90.

What do you guys think? Is this a quality part? Will it improve my performance? Or should I look elsehwere.

Not great quality, but if you replace the gaskets that come with the header you should be all right.

is there a specific brand or model of after market header that you would recommend? If not are there certain things that i need to look for in a good header? back to the one I posted, you said that replacing the gasket would be a good idea, did you mean replace it with an oem gasket or another after market one?

Also, what is a good price for a header anyways? the thread about upgrades to the stock engine listed prices that were much lower than car part listed so I guess that parts aren't as common as they used to be. Then again there are at least 30 CB7s in town, so it's not like there is a shortage of them out there.

Sorry for all the questions. i just want to be sure I make the right decision. I understand that intake and exhaust are very important in performance and I thought this was a great opportunity.

          DC is a good brand.
But, if you want the best, go with Bisi.

Both a quite a bit more than the $90 one you want, but they are both MUCH better.

The bisi one is more than i want to pay for an engine that i will just swap out anyways. I'm guessing DC is cheaper than bisi? Where can I find them? I Googled it but I don't know who is legit and who will scam me.

You could probably get that same cheap header on ebay for 40 bucks...it is just a basic design.....as someone stated, if you want a good quality header go with the Bisi header. Alot of engineering and design go into a "great" header....and thats what set it apart from your basic decent header.

Some aftermarket headers have been known to perform less than your regular stock header, so choose wisely if performance is what your are seeking and not just looks. I know for a fact the H22 header (and you are prolly talking about a F22 header...but as an example)...price can rnage from 100 bucks to around 1200...so you get what you pay for, take your time and choose wisely and make the first purchase your last purchase.

I am not sure what Bisi sells his for...but if its only a few dollars more...it is worth every penny!

                      Starts at $850.

Hey...I say if you want a header to do what it do...you gotta pay the fee ....honestly I feel safe in saying that a DC sports header will not out perform a stock A6 header...but thats just my opinion...I dont have dyno sheets to prove it, but I am sure there are some out there.

I know personally I have wasted a ton of money on trying parts only to be let down, and wishing I had of just saved and got the good stuff the first time around.

That's the truth. I want to make an informed decision and get the best bang for buck here. If it takes $850 to get improved header performance then forget it, I'll just get a basic one. I intend to do an H22 or F20b swap out next year anyways so spending $850 on something that wont last me long seems kind of stupid.

Anyways on to my car. I also need the brushings replaced (whatever those are). What do I need to know about those? What is involved in replacing them and how much do should I expect to pay? Sorry these questions are so stupid. I checked wikipedia and it couldn't tell me.

Wow.....and you think my suggestions are stupid...just trying to save you money in the long run dude....but I understand, I don't have 800 bucks to drop on a header either!

Just wait and spend that money on a H22 then!
