ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    PowerSteering Puked...Literally

Yesterday I was on an onramp getting up to speed when I smelled burnt oil, looked in my mirror and a PLUME of smoke was coming out the back. First thought, oh shit my motor's gone. Then to my relief(kinda)my steering got hard. Pulled over to check it out, There's oil running down the outside of my fender. Pop the hood, the resivoir cap is off, And the metal hose coming out of the front of the pump was blown off the pump. My hood and half the engine bay is soaked in ps fluid. Anyway, would just changing the pump take care of this or is there another problem lurking?
    Thanks!

it blew the bolts out that holds the line on???!?! holy poop.

It sounds to me like there was a serious pressure backup in the system. Could be caused by something being clogged in the system

this happened to be one time but i do not remember anything serious of it. I think i just wiped it down and put the cap back on. But the line never popped off like yours.

I've never known that to happen... but yeah, the pump makes the pressure, so that's probably what did it. You should try to determine if it's a blockage in the pump, or in the lines. A new pump will do it again if it's in the lines.

Be sure to hit your engine bay with degreaser ASAP. Power steering fluid will destroy your paint, and you'll have major rust issues very quickly.

Not the line thats bolted on, this one [IMG][/IMG] hmm I wonder what could be clogged. I'm definitely going to get a different pump since i doubt this one is usable now. OH yeah when I started her up yesterday it squealed for like 2 seconds but I didn't think much of it. Thanks for the tip Deev I didn't know it would damage anything.

Yeah, hydraulic fluid is extremely corrosive. Very bad for anything rubber or plastic, as well... Clean off all hoses and wires.

Thats acually a return line there shouldnt be any pressure there. a remanufactured one costs about 75-100. Worth the extra money VS a used. in my opinion

Just got mine together and twice today, once driving the car around the shop and the other sitting still the cap just pops up in the air about 3" off of the Reservoir. WTF!!!!!! I have an extra, going to change. Will update.

that happened on my old cb7. i ended up getting a ziptie around that loops around the rear of the pump and on the side of the elbow, and then just tightned it. it's still working to this day as far as i know.
