ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

H23 intake mani for 60 bucks at junkyard

found a prelude with an h23 at the j.y. and they told me 60 bucks for the intake manifold. i'm not sure on the going rates for these but is that a decent deal or would i find one cheaper from somebody on here?

That's a pretty good deal. Be sure to get the IAB box as well.

My H23 intake manifold is one of the few things I've ever gotten a good deal on, lol. I got the full H23 intake, with gaskets, and an extra plenum, for $20.

$60 isn't bad at all, though. Below the going rate, for sure.

Up to $75 is fair with the throttle body, I'd say... and I'm a chap SOB!

You will need a PT6 if you are hooking the IAB's up. If you don't have the black box, you could get a P12 for a slight performance gain or just use your PT3

IF i hook the IAB's up? so would it be okay to discard of the butterflies and just not use the blackbox at all? but of course still use a more compatible ecu until i can afford to have it tuned at least

You can gut the butterflies if you want. If you have the black box you should just hook them up though. The butterflies are in there so it helps the engine at low RPM's. They stay closed at low RPM to help low end torque and when the engine gets over a certain RPM, they open up.

This black box??? Would I have to do the same going from an A1 to an A6? Where is this black box if so? And what else should be changed that I don't know about?

yes you would need the do the same as the a6 has butterflies as well.

black box acts as a middle man between the intake manifold and butterflies. When the car is on the vacuum inside from the intake manifold and closes the butterflies. When the car reaches over 5000rpm? Different in some cars, the ecu sends an electrical signal to cut vacuum, by closing a door in the box and allow the butterflies to open for better flow at higher rpm

more torque is achieved from this air flow difference.

I've heard of people being able to use the black box that is on the intake resonator.

So Leave the lower air box in huh? The one in the side of the bumper under the fender? Has the vacuum tube on it?

yes you dont necessarily need that lower air box for the intake, i hear it's just for noise reduction. so substituting that instead of a real black box for the intake manifold is a temporary fix.

I'm running with my black box unplugged as all my pt6 ecu that control the iab are giving me codes and I've noticed the drop in low end torque. So i'm running the stock pt3 that doesnt control the iab.

If you are worried about the butterflies, just hooked the bypass valve to the plenum. They open around the same 3-4k rpm range as with the blackbox.. thingy. So no fancy wiring needed.

Where is the actual "black box"? What runs to it? Picture please.

60 is a good deal, I got mine on ebay complete for 55 shipped.

I have just been running the PT3 ecu since I still have the a1 cam, and have the secondaries hooked to full vacuum.
