ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    headlight bulb lifespan

Every 6 months or so I have to replace my right, low beam, headlight bulb. (the one in front of the battery) I have tried low end Sylvania and GE bulbs as well as Sylvania SilverStar bulbs.

I drive with my headlights on all the time. But why am I just burning out the right bulb?

should i be buying "better" bulbs? if so, which ones do you guys recommend? i don't want any of those "blue" bulbs, i want something regular or slightly whiter.

do i have a voltage problem?

    any other ideas?

"I drive with my headlights on all the time" that is the reason

My happen the same too. Check to see if your bulb rattle in the housing. Did you wear glove when you install them?

I've been wondering the same thing, because I haven't changed my bulbs yet on this car, and I've owned it for five years now.

Freak of luck I guess. I've had to change the bulbs on my dad's Accord twice in the past three years.

Guess it depends on the brand.

EDIT: check your fuses, maybe? that they're the same brand/amperage/etc. odd that only one bulb/connection seems to die unexpectedly.

When installing headlight bulb do not touch the glass. Once the oil from your hand get on it. When the bulb is running it cause it to run hotter and prematurely die quicker. Always wear glove when installing.

That's what I was going to say. The bulb near the battery is more difficult to maneuver into place, so you may be touching the glass as you install it.

It COULD be a voltage problem, or a moisture problem, or any number of things as well. Since it's an old car, electrical oddities do occur. The only real way to correct it would be to carefully inspect and/or replace all the wiring and connections. It could also just be coincidence that you happen to get a crappy bulb for that side!

Maybe you should consider an HID upgrade

for the extra 5 minutes it takes, why not pull the battery and puke tank first,
then you have all kinds of room.

HID kits are dirt cheap now... like $65. There are better ones, but people seem to have great luck with the cheapies. I normally don't cheap out... but when the Fit gets HIDs, it'll be a cheap kit. You just need to make sure you get an auxiliary harness going to your battery, or you can do damage to your electrical system. Some kits come with it (which is a new thing), and others do not. There is a company called 3bspecialties that makes nice harnesses for $15. I had one for my GTP.

To really make the best of an HID kit, though, you should have a projector retrofit. Our stock housings aren't made for them, so the output is scattered. The Audi projectors in my CB7 had MUCH better output than the HIDs in the stock GTP housings... Still, the output is still better than halogen in the stock housings.

Well worth it, IMO. And for the price you can get them for now, they're comparable in price to the more expensive halogen bulbs out there.
