ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    newb OIL PRESSURE?!?

whats going on newb here. ive got a 91 lx and the oil light has been flickering and flashing. well i kept driving the car...like a dumb@$$, and broke my camshaft in half..so i put a new cam,and head on it, ive replaced the pressure switch, cleaned the clogged pickup screen and tube out. did a oil pressure test, at cold startup had 65 psi slowly dropped as car warmned up, after about 15-20 min pressure dropped to 8psi at idle BUT had 55-60 PSI at 3k rpms. would this indicated a bad oil pump? or internal problem (main crankshaft bearings)? any help is appreciated

Sounds like you half-a$$ed the fix without proper inspection of the failed setup. Make sure you inspect everything related.

It is obvious you did not inspect your engine bearings or oil pump. If you abused your engine the way you described in terms of oil light, I would honestly start with another engine, unless you want to do a complete rebuild. You're more than likely on borrowed time, as engine bearings are probably damaged.

If you were driving with a bad oil pump there obviously was very poor oil circulation so there is a very good chance.Just look at what happened to your head.Change your oil pump and use a heavy grade of oil like 10W40 or 20W50

If you're lucky you will only have a bad oil pump. If you're not lucky your bearings are shot and likely have have to replace/rebuild the shortblock.

If the oil pump is not the problem then in the meantime you can regain some of your oil pressure by running a thicker oil. Try a 15w50 and refrain from bearing on it until you source the parts you need to rebuild/replace the block.

maybe a few extra hp IF the motor is still good....
that and a little more vibration. no real disadvantages aside from the vibes...
