ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Rear drum to rear disc brake conversion???

I recently had a 91 cb7 that died on me and i was parting out when this guy came and ask me about my rear brake system and asked me if they were rear disc and if it was he was going to do a conversion. i was wondering if this is possible and if it is what is the advantage to having rear disc brake instead of drum brake and how would this be done

You need the whole rear trailing arm both sides. you also need e-brake cables, the brake hoses from the rear disc brakes. get new brake pads and rotors and clean the caliper slides and your good to go. get brake fluid and bleed the brakes

Rear disk provides better stopping power than drums. Simple.
I too want to do a rear disk conversion some time in the future... my drum brakes are crap.
Accord 93 LX: H23 intake mani, Ebay short ram, P12 ecu, Full exhaust. Lots of noise... and that's about it, just noise. LOL
Mazdapeed MX-5 04: Begi Intake, Forge BOV, Ebay FMIC. Whoooooooosh... Phhhff!

Sir, I feel the same way. I think I'll do my conversion in summer 2010.

Hey do you all recommend lager discs in the from prior to a h22 swap.

I just like the fact that its way more simple to change brake pads then brake shoes.

Does it also require the Proportioning valve from the 4 Wheel Disc system?

Would this make it more effective?

Im also running down this idea.

why do you need the trailing arms? thought it was just the knuckle you needed.

WTF did yo just say? English, please.

Rear discs don't stop the car significantly better than properly maintained rear drums. The main reason why people do the swap is for appearance. They look better.

You also need to get a 40/40 proportioning valve from an Integra. The only CBs that have rear discs also have ABS, and it's a bitch to swap the ABS system over as well (in fact, I've never known anyone to do it). The 40/40 prop valve gives proper brake proportioning without the need for the ABS system. Otherwise, you can have too much braking in the rear, which can result in a loss of control (like pulling your ebrake in a normal braking situation.)

                        parts list

does anyone have a solid parts list for this? and the range of hondas in which i can take the parts from... i have heard ranging things like i can take the trailing arms from all the way up to 97 and other weird things.. obviously id like to steal them from another cb7 that was originally an ex but its becoming harder to find these at a decent price... thanks in advance for the help.

The Accord LX Prop. Valve is perfect for safety.
The Integra 40/40 can be dangerous as it puts MORE power to the rear brakes.
I myself have noticed a decrease in braking power to my rear brakes.
Aswell my Ebrake cant even lock up on ice I SAID ICE
I've adjusted it more times than I can count. Took it to the dealer, they said it was normal!?!?!
I got it to be a little better once I unadjusted it and drove around for a while.
But yea, now with rear disc I cant park on hills
But changing pads is simple. With the 40/40 Valve you have to change the rears at the same time as the fronts, they wear alot faster.

                          A parts list...
You dont need the trailing arms....they unbolt from the knuckle.
If you take the trailing arms, itll save you time from unbolting it and putting it on the other one
Here a couple pics of my rear disc swap....I decided to put the EX crossmember AND put the Vigor Sway bar on at the same time.
My brakes were off of a 91SE
Also a thing to consider is replacing the shock bushing on the knuckle, these take alot of stress and its always good to get new rubber! (its what I did)

I can park just fine on hills or anywhere.

I didn't even change out my prop valve.
