    Questions about tire sizes.... (poll)

Hey hey, just a quick question guys....

I bought a set of 17's last week for the integra, no pics right now. I'm replacing all of the tires tomorrow at a local tire shop. I've decided on Nitto Neo Gen's. The wheels are 17's.

The wheels have 40 series tires on them now (205/40) and they ride like ass like you would expect. I've had a couple of cars with 40 series before, and i just dont know if I wanna deal with having a crappy ride again. BUT...

I wanna lower the car very soon...

So my question is, should I get a set of 205/45's instead? or stick with the 205/40's ?

--- Is it even worth jumping up to the 45's ? do they really make that much of a difference in ride quality?
    all feedback is welcome.

Well my friend, I had a set of 17's that I recently sold and I was running 205/45/r17 and it rode pretty good. I put my stock wheels back on and I'm not noticing too much of a difference. Of course the ride is better with the stockers but it wasn't really bad with the 17's. I'm also lowered on KYB GR-2's and TEIN S-Tech springs. I say bump it up, cant hurt anything.

well im sticking with 205's so it wont rub. this has nothing to do with what i like vs what you like ... i just want to know if 45's ride better than 40's enough to justify the price difference.

heres what my rims looked like with that size tire. its awesome unless youre really going for that looow tire profile look.

and yes, it will ride better with 45s

I like the ride quality of my 205/45s.

              I would go with 45s.

However, that would be on a CB. The Integra may not like them. I had 45s on my stock-height Fit (215/45 though) and the tires hit the fender on big bumps. This was on a 7.5" wide rim, 42 offset.

Also, I don't believe Neo Gens come in 205/45/17... unless it's something new. I wanted that size, because I heard that the Neo Gens hold up to camber wear very well. No dice.

                that's kinda narrow for 17's isn't it? I have 215's on my 15's...

                  Deev- I didn't know they don't make neo Gen's in a 45 series. Lame
But i hear the same thing about camber wear, which is why i'm going
for them in the first place. Plus, it's a nice tire for the money.

guess I have only one option.

pazzword JDM- yo, how do the s techs ride with gr-2's? i hear since gr 2's are a stock replacement, they dont do that well on lowered cars. what do you think?

and with out doing some sort of modification to the fender well, 215's dont fit on an integra without rubbing (when lowered and riding on 17's, anyways)

Stooby. the GR-2s are fine on aftermarket suspension. sideswipe is running them on ebay coilovers and he loves them. just dont SLAM the car and expect to have a nice ride.

what kind of tires were on the rims when you got them? different tires have different compounds in them that make them ride like crap. Ronald_TypeR had some tires that rode perfect all summer, but as soon as temps dropped for the fall and winter, he said it was like driving on ice.

                        I have 215/45 Neo's.

According to Nitto website , they don't have 205/45/17. They have 205/40 instead.
