ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

How long have you had the battery? I've seen this happen to a couple of people and their problem was the alternator (the alt wasn't charging the battery).

Anyways most replacement batteries are perfectly fine, even the cheap ones you get at Walmart work great. If you want to spend a little bit more, get a gel cell.

It's also very possible that your battery cables are dirty or loose. Check that before you go spending money replacing parts.

Very true. I've had this happen on my bro's 90 Accord EX. His battery cable terminal connections had green electrical corrosion and it got bad enough that one morning his car would not start. No power whatsoever to anything. Of course, he is the typical just drive the car until it blows up or doesn't work type person, he's lucky he has me.

I pop the hood open, see the terminal corrosion, cleaned it up and that was it! It worked fine after that.

Also, take a look at the electrical connection at your alternator, the large green one (voltage regulator). If that is a loosely fit connection, it could not be making good contact and yield same symptoms. I've had that happen to me too, knowing the battery and alternator were fine. I had to remove the plastic connector housing, pull the terminal pins and crimp them tighter, pop that back into the plastic housing. Reconnected the connector with tighter fit, all was good.

I going to look into the electric wiring since it's pretty old. But i think it's the battery because i need to jump my car every time b4 i start it. Then when I'm driving on the road it's perfectly fine. So do you guys think it's the alternator not having enough power to start up ?

The battery is really only there for startup, the alt does the work while the engine is running.

You could always take it into an auto place and have them check just to make sure it is the battery.

Also, the alternator has NOTHING to do with starting the car, other than keeping the battery charged as the car is running.

actually the battery was fine. We checked the voltage and it came out with a 13.66 the starter and alt was good. There was some corrision around the red terminals. It was getting a good connection. I actually poured some pepsi and on the erosion part and it cleaned it right up.
