ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Rack and Pinion centering

I have a 93 Accord LXA 10th year anniversary. The rack and pinion is leaking ps fluid on the left side - have to fill it once a week (500 miles) lately. It is time to replace it.

How do you center the rack during the installation? I read one post that reccomended turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and locking it there to aid in disassembly. I understand that, but not quite sure how to align it during re-assembly.

I have a helms manual and it does not say anythiing about turning the steering wheel to the left.

before you take that thing off. Center your steering wheel!!! Do not turn that steering wheel ....!!

Measure distance of the outer tie rod -> the beginning of the thread and write it down somewhere

I put everything back in except the link to the steering wheel.

then i turn the rack and pinion with a vice grip til the wheel is straight then i put back the steering wheel link to the rack and pinion.

after that go get an alignment!

that what i did it came out fine but you will need an alignment for sure

oh you got that turning to the left but don't do with the steering wheel. Take off the link first then turn it manually.

i concur. you dont have to get it perfect because there's enough slack in the tierods and steering wheel splines to compensate. it's hard to get the splines on the double joint near the pedals lined up when you're fighting against time and the chassis is jabbing you in the ribs.

You can also count how many turns it takes to get it off.
