ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Trouble W/Tuner Lugs

I recently bought a CB7, although I've wanted one for awhile. The girl I picked it up from gave me three keys for the tuner lugs, none of which are correct for the rears. It has the 8 point internal star style. Anyone had any luck with coming up with a second key, or did you break your old ones off? If you broke them: chisel or snap the stud?

You can hammer on a socket that fits tightly over the lock, and get it off that way.

Are they OEM locks, or aftermarket?

They are the ones that are smooth on the outside and have a 8 pointed star on the inside...

Those are a generic tuner lug. You can either buy a set of lugs at the auto parts store that are the same (so you can use the key) or, I know of people that have used Allen keys to remove those lugs...

I've ran into this problem before, and what I used was the irwin bolt extractor kit. I picked the kit up at autozone for like 10 dollars. You'll just have to buy a new set of lug nuts though.

I'll check that out if the allen keys don't work. I thought about just buying another set, but I want to get some nice ones for my Volks...

these are just generic... so chances are a thief will be able to get a key for them. If you plan on getting Volks, I definitely suggest getting GOOD locks!

I already have the Volks, it's really just the challenge of getting them adapted now. I need some 4x114.3 to 5x100 adapters. Might not work.

Can I go to 4x100? Has anyone done this? The wheel/adapter selection is so much better.

I would NEVER run an adapter... very bad idea.

Honestly, for the sake of safety... sell those Volks and buy another set with the correct lug pattern.

I have never had a problem with adapters, literally thousands of miles on them. They are quality pieces, with quality fasteners, torqued to spec. The selection of wheels in this bolt pattern sucks, and I hate modern wheels on old cars.

                        not really...

You're just not looking in the right places. I've found plenty of sexy ass wheels in our lug pattern.

There are not alot of time period correct wheels for these cars, there are lots of new style wheels and replica wheels, but what about actual 1994 splitty Volks with racing history. I'll redrill the hubs if I have to. I've owned these wheels for 7 years waiting for the right car, and this is it. I think you will agree when you see them on the car. My present VW has had 6 sets of wheels in 3 months, all gone because someone wanted them for their ride. I can't roll just any old rim on my car, I have a reputation to uphold...LOL!
