Bolt on exhaust diy?

I went out to get some donuts and noticed my exhaust has a crack in the pipe about 4 inches long directly under the middle of the car and there is also flexible pipe under there being used as half my exhaust. Don't know why it cracked or how but it did, so I'm thinking about replacing my headers with some performance ebay ones and running a straight pipe to a bolt on muffler. Is there a DIY somewhere for how to make exhausts bolt on? I used the search but couldn't find one. I'm looking at a 1992 firebird borla muffler I found on craigslist and I think i can mod it to work? Any suggestions. I wasn't counting on having to change my exhaust this early in the game. *sigh*
*edit* I'll get outside when the sun comes up and take some pis of the exhaust to show you what I'm dealing with. I didn't know how bad the exhaust was when I bought the car a month ago. *edit*

Buy a header, take it to an exhaust shop, and have them weld up exhaust. Any muffler will work, as long as the piping is the same size as the exhaust. You could buy an aftermarket exhaust, but those are expensive, and you get the same piping as the muffler shop anyways.

don't spend a lot on that ebay header, they aren't going to give you much for perf. THe only header really worth money is either a CARB legal one or bisi's. Otherwise, just get the stock tubular or a CHEAP ebay one, large collector

As for the OP, you should've noticed an exhaust leak if it was like that when you bought it. A crack that big would have been loud.

Find a well recommended exhaust fab shop. I am very happy with my custom exhaust, and they gave me one hell of a price on it.

As for the OP, you should've noticed an exhaust leak if it was like that when you bought it. A crack that big would have been loud.

It's hard to notice a 4 inch crack when it was loud before anyway there is no cat on it, straight pipe. I noticed the crack bc when i started the car to let it warm up all the exhaust fumes came from the wheel wells and under the car instead of out the tailpipe x.x

hi why not get a muffler at the junk yard off a g35 and make the rest of the exhaust to fit .. just a thought

Just get that ebay cat-back and call it a day, if you want perforamce plus sound.....get ready to drop $400 (apexi world sport type 2) Just my opinion....
