ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Very New To Tuning...

Hello every one my name is Shawn and I'm from North Carolina..I'm in High school and i currently have a 1990 Honda Accord 5Spd Ex 4Dr..Currently it's not in running condition and hasn't been for a lil over a year and months now..It needs a new engine and tires and other maintenance that hasn't been done lately..The car is my dad's but he's debating on selling it or giving it to me...

I want to fix it up b/c it's not in any physical damage other than a lil paint fading and the interior is real good for it to be that old it need the upholstery done up again that's about it..I want to make this car into a tuner car..I want to give it more HP and better handling..I also want to give it a nice body kit i don't want to "over do-it" i just want it to be worth keeping and give me a lil fun on the weekends with my friends when we start goin to the track to drag and legal street racing...

I have 1 problem tho I will be going against such cars as Integra's, Legends, Mustangs and things like those u kno regular cars ppl tune for street racing i just need help so i can make mine as fast or faster but i know NOTHING about engines or performance parts teach me o wise ones! lol well i hope i didnt bore u or type to much haha pleaseee get back to me thanx...

I also suggest picking up the book "Honda/Acura Engine Performance" by Mike Kojima. Some of the information is very dated, and a bit of it is even downright false... but overall, the book is a VERY good start for the beginning tuner. It gives you a very easy to understand overview of engines in general, and then focuses on Honda engines specifically. It goes into nice detail on naturally aspirated, turbo, nitrous, superchargers... It's a very good book. Read that, and you'll know what you're looking at as you read through threads on this site.

Also, don't neglect your brakes, tires, and suspension. A powerful engine in a car that has sub-par brakes, tires, and suspension won't be able to use the power properly! Most of the tuners that I respect the most have done that stuff before even touching the engine.

I also have 2 bumper that we haven't put on front and rear..

To deevergote: Oh yeah man no doubt i didn't forget about suspension and brakes I include that with handling..But thanx for reminding me about the importance of it although...

Like they said, search the Forum. It is a HUGE wealth of knowledge.
I will however give you something to search for.

Since you need to put in a new engine anyways, I would advise a nice N/A build. The F20a engine would make a beasty N/A build. CB7 Sleeper is doing an F20a build, make sure to check him out.

If you have any question aswell feel free to ask.

Take a better picture of the front. From what i see you have fog lights which are pretty rare.

Wow man, I was just going to suggest the F20a to him for his next engine. Lol. Thanks for beating me to it.

OP, the F20a is a great engine with a lot of good potential. Not to mention it's very cheap. I bought mine for $390 from jdmtigerjapanese.com.

A lot of people have their opinions about Tiger, but I haven't had any problems with them. Not to mention my engine will be COMPLETELY rebuilt and refreshed before even being installed in the car. Check out my members ride thread every now and again. I'll be updating as things begin to happen. Right now I am awaiting my engine and transmissions arrival. Then I'll start with updates.

To be specific, I'll be taking the engine to my buddy Cisco (HondaFan81) for a full "refresh." This "refresh" will consist of all seals, gaskets, etc. being replaced. Balance shaft delete, EGR block off, timing belt and water pump procedure, etc. After the engine is in the car and we have confirmed that it is running properly, I'll be installing Bisimoto 2.3 nitrous camshafts, and hooking up a ZEX single fogger nitrous kit. Then I'll be acquiring an AEM FIC unit to tune my ECU with, considering I'm on an automatic transmission. I'm having it dyno tuned in Toledo, OH and then it should be ready for a couple passes on the track. I also have a Bisimoto intake manifold gasket, and polyurethane filled motor mounts I bought from fatboy1185.

The F20a is the Accord Si engine. It's a DOHC Non- VTEC and here are the specs.
                              F20A

This engine was used in the 1990-1993 CB3 and CB4Honda Accord 2.0Si and Si-T in Japan. And the Honda prelude BB3-BB9 96-01 in Europe.

                              Specifications
