Best procedure for changing rear motor mount?

The rear hydraulic motor mount on my 92 accord lx is finished. The front end of the car constantly rattles and shakes when idling and when the car is going through the gear on the AT you can really feel the jerking.

What is the best way of getting in their under neath the intake manifold and getting that thing out? Looks like I might have to take the vacuum hose ctrl box out and also part of the air intake system?

Is their a step by step thread on hos to do this?

    Thanks!

      Rear motor mount diy

This is the method that goes from the top. There is also another method of getting the rear mount out from the bottom, but it is not outlined on cb7tuner from what I found.

*edit - damn, beat me to it.

You can also get it out from the top without removing the intake. I and others have done it.

This procedure (92 LX with AT) requires the removal of the fuel filter so it's a good idea to change the filter if you want to do it this way.

        What you need:
several long extensions, one very long one (like 20" or so)
universal joints (i needed 2, to get around the intake manifold)

        Basic steps:
        - remove air intake duct and also the air filter box for more room
        - remove fuel filter
        - put a jack under the transmission
        - loosen the rear engine mount bolts (2 you can get with the long extension, the third from above with the 2 universal joints) and the big bolt
        - loosen the big bolt on the front engine mount and take it out (so the engine can move)
        - jack up the transmission so the engine goes up in the back
        - slide the mount back towards the firewall
        - take vacuum line off the mount
        - turn the mount 90 degress
        - remove the bracket that holds the heater hose, so can bend the hose (you do not disconnect the hose)
        - slide the mount out (needs some fiddling, but it will come out)
        - put the new mount in, connect the vacuum hose, lower the jack, torque the mount down, put everything back together

I had no idea that the rear motor mount was so involved. I figured it was a bone shaped mount like the front.
