ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

ugh bolt stuck and rounded off...

those two bolts that hold that caliper part which is on the back of the rotor are rounded off... its a tight space and i cant drill out the head...

once again does anybody have and advice

Hammer a smaller socket on there. You'll be sacrificing the socket, and the bolt will need to be replaced (that's true no matter what...), but it should get it off.

You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.-visualpoet

This may sound stupid but if you can get in there with a grinder at all you can reshape the head enough to get it with the socket approach deev mentioned.

That's true... it's more work, but if you can effectively turn it into a smaller size head to be used with a smaller socket, you won't waste a socket (and it may end up being more effective)

Just one thing... NEVER use a 12 point socket on a 6 point nut or bolt! Always use the correct size and shape for what you're removing, always make sure your tool is on there securely, and make sure that the socket/wrench isn't already damaged.

trying using a one size smaller socket, probably going to get worse, what i would do is use a flat chisel n a hammer, and make sure your hit it towards the left, n that will start to loosen it up, then grab a pair of vise grips n take them off.... it should work, WORST CASE, they have to get touched off.

Gee, thanks for giving the same advice you just read somebody else had already given him. I can tell you are going to be a real help around here.

OP, first of all, I'd try to soak it in some penetrating oil. Then, the grinding idea sounds like a good idea, but heres the way I'd go about doing it. Take a file, and start filing it down to give it some shape again, maybe file it down to about one size smaller. Then, instead of hammering a socket on, and risking damaging the socket, or possibly breaking the drive on your ratchet you'd be using (I've done it before), hammer on the circular end (not sure what it's called exactly) of a combination wrench onto the bolt. Use a 6 point as deev suggested. It should be fairly easy to get this end of the wrench on. Then, using a rubber mallet, I'd wack the wrench, or use another wrench or something to get extra leverage, and try to get the thing loose. It sounds really complicated, lol, but if you understand what I'm trying to explain to you, you'll find it shouldn't be too hard.

Man, if you lived closer to me I'd come over and help you. Lol.

Kevin... please let the staff enforce the rules. When another member does it, it can be construed as flaming, and I'd rather not have to ban you.

He has been notified, and his post count has not increased since that notification. If it continues, he will be banned.

Sorry deev, this guys useless posts have just been bothering me lately. He seems to do it in almost every thread. Once again I am sorry man, I'll try to tone it down a bit.

I understand... believe me! But I'm on it.

When someone like that appears, and flaming is allowed... it becomes open hunting season on postwhores... and it makes things difficult for the mods. People get banned, and we then have to put up with the angry emails (and the "contact us" link goes to me... )
