ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    tire issue

so i'm thinking that the rims and tires i bought for $300 may have been worth just that, and not a steal like i had thought. i was in a rush when i bought them as i was out of town and needed to get home that i didnt really look at the tires all that much so as i sit here looking at them it appears i have two different rear tires. but as i look even closer, i now see i have 4 different tires on the rims. i have a direction lexani 205/40zr17 84W, an autoguard 205/40zr17 84W, a directional kumho 215/40r17 83H, and a directional Nexen 215/40zr17 87W. my question is, can i temporarily use 4 different tread patterns? the 215s in the front and 205s in the rear? also, whats up with the width/height. i've got 83, 84, and 87. i'm pretty sure they are the same rim and i measured them as best i could(hard to accurately measure the inside of the rim or outside of the tire) can a certain tire change the overall width. i thought the tire could only be as wide as the rim. eventually i plan on getting 4 matching tires, i'm just really confused by this

83, 84, and 87 are your load ratings. has nothing to do with size.
w and h are your speed ratings. also nothing to do with size.

you can run mismatched tires but your performance and handling predictability will be unbalanced.

Look up those tires to see if any of them are summer tires. Summer tires in cold weather are no good... and if one tire loses grip when you expect it not to, you could find yourself losing control.

Also, those tires are probably old...

Replace them ASAP. Until then, be careful. If one of them gives out at highway speeds, well... Take a look at what happened to MrPhil

you could take one and just buy 3 of that tire.and save the others as a spare.then when the new ones die just buy three of the other ones.or u can buy four and give those to me.

its fine to run diff. sizes, thats what guys w/ staggered wheels/tires do. But its not good to run diff. speed ratings. B/c then you car will grip unpredictably. A W rated tire grips way better than an H rated tire. They will also wear differently. Since a W rated tire grips better, it is made of a softer compound, so it will wear out sooner than an H rated tire most likely.

Where exactly did you buy this set of 4 tires? lol

I agree with everyone here i work for a tire store. u need a tire that is at least a 87 load rated tire and a speed rating of H or higher. all 4 tires should be the same. if you are going to stagger the tires make sure that they ar almost the same height.

I don't think tread pattern means much. I love to ask tire store salesman why the same tire tread pattern that slants one way, slants the other way when mounted on the other side of the car. This is true for many tires take Falken ZIEX ZE-329 for example.

its an asymmetrical tread pattern. A lot of tires have that, Goodyear Eagle GT, Barum Bravuris, Falken Ziex ZE912. Just a way for the inner portion to have advantages over the outer portion. Another tire, the Nitto Neogen has that pattern and is specifically meant for lowered cars since the inner tread blocks are made of a higher endurance compound. So cars w/ camber wear won't have to buy tires as much lol
