ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    G22 swap?

Hey getting a h22a vtec head, solenoid, ecu, and harness and I'm wondering if it will bolt on to my f22a4 sohc motor? will i have to bore out the cylinder walls and all that will it even work with my motor? I know it works for an f23 but obviously i dont have that.

It will work with blocked off oil passages. You will be left with a low-compression VTEC engine, with a bottom end that really isn't safe to rev as high as the head would like. Basically, you'd safely get about 1000 RPM of VTEC.

Will it work, yes. Is it worth it? No.

      So get high compression pistons?

        Do what you want.

And an H head and F block do not make a G series engine. The G series came in the Inspire/Vigor/TL.

No, it makes an F/H hybrid engine. It does not make it a Ganything.

That's like saying "if I combine a Honda and a Toyota, I must get a Nissan!"

              No.

I curse the dumb fuck that popularized the "G22" and "G23" shit.

I dont think its bad, but remember the F block is low compression so your not going to get that performance your looking for...

I wouldn't consider it a "bad" idea, I'd consider it a "risky" idea. Most people try to do it the cheapest/easiest way, and end up blowing something up. If you have the time/dedication to research prior to the swap, and take your time with it, you'll be fine.

Is there a certain reason you're wanting to keep the F-block? Unless you're getting a hell of a deal on the H22 head, just stick with your F22.

You'll have a low compression H22. It'll put down numbers close to non-VTEC H23 numbers.

Low compression and a motor that will rev safely to 1000 RPM lower than an H22.

It'd put out H23 horsepower if you're lucky... and considerably less torque.

If you want VTEC, get a full H22, or an F20B. VTEC is about optimizing airflow... and a low-compression, low-redline motor is NOT going to do that for you.

                        X2

Its like nobody has even heard of the ALREADY MADE ACTUAL G SERIES 5 cylinder engines honda made, would love to get one though... be a crazy build (expensive as hell with all custom stuff)

but enough that, as others stated it is not worth it. and im about 99% sure it WONT put down h23 numbers just because of that head. Power from the H22 comes from a different bore and stroke/ fuel mapping/ DOHC/ timing/ higher compression/ different intake and exhausts as well. theres more im sure obvioously, but understand putting the head on will do practically nothing, unless serious engine building will be taking place as well....

yeah well i was originally gonna get the full h22 swap-h23 motor with h22 tranny and h22 vtec head-but then i heard about how this G22 swap is supposed to be much more faster and i did some research and figured i'd save money and put much more power out.
but wtf guess i'll just save the rest of my money and get that full swap
