ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Do I have to do this

I been messing with my car for a few days trying to figure out my clutch problem as to why it drnt in engage...i was told that since my fork or whatever the name for the bar that the slave cylinder pushes to engage the clutch is jamed that i need to take the tranny down and figure out whats going on,i dont think its the pressure plate or throwout bearing, because i can still shift gears at 2000 rpm,i might be wrong can someone share some insite please......

My entire clutch assembly failed... clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing... and I drove my car home (a 2 hour drive) by shifting without the clutch. Just because you can do that doesn't mean those things are fine. Chances are, the fork separated from the throwout bearing.

Yes, you will have to drop the transmission to find out exactly what is wrong and correct it.

At first, it sounded like little chirping birds, and was difficult to get in gear. I ignored it. It went away. That was most likely one of the bearings starting to fail.

One day, it just locked up. I could not depress the clutch without stalling the car. If I held down the gas while pushing in the clutch, all I smelled was burnt clutch. That's what I had to do at stop lights... but otherwise, I just shifted without the clutch. Glad I taught myself how to do that!

The clutch probably wouldn't have been totally shot had I not burned it up. The throwout bearing was the primary cause of failure. I knew that, too. NEVER NEVER NEVER use a cheap aftermarket throwout bearing! ALWAYS spend the $40 or so from Honda!

You're going to have to drop the transmission without a doubt. CB7 Sleeper has a point... might as well change all the clutch stuff while you're there! I suggest Exedy components. DO NOT get cheap ebay crap (XTD, F1, etc...) that's what put me in the position I was in!
