ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Front Axle Knocking

Ok my axle starting knocking the other day and its weird because when i bought the car back in january we put a brand new axle in it. i dont drive the car hard at all since it's got close to 300k on it.

is there anything that could be causing the axle to wear out fast?

Depending on where you got it, some places have lifetime warranties on their axles. If that's the case, just take the old one out, take it down and get a new one

Some remanufactured axles are crap. If your boot is torn, then the joint may be damaged. If you installed the axle improerly, it will knock (it is very common for people to only push the axle in most of the way, enough to put everything back together, but not really lock it in place).

i didnt put the axle in. my uncle had a shop do it. and they ordered the axle from advance auto parts. if i knew the name i would give it to you.

but ill have to check it out. get it on the lift and go back over everything.

Could it be the other axle?what side did you replace?Does it just knock when you turn or all the time?Im pretty sure advance has a lifetime warranty on that part....

we replaced both sides. i know that much.
it sounds like its coming from the passenger side, and it knocks when im turning, and sometimes when i take off.

UMMMMMM....I would say check that side then.....Make sure its in right even if it does when you take off for that matter...I've also heard of upper balljoints knocking...Check them too...I would just Take it back and say its no good to make sure....If everything else is good to go...Sometimes new stuff is'nt always good.Even if it is Recondition one.............Most of the time thats what you buy from part stores unless you say you want a brand new one

I have this sound also but i am convinced its not due to the axles. I have recently disassembled mine, checked the bearings and they feel smooth, not loose and not grindy when its moved.

From experience CV's that are worn will make a click click sound when turning. No matter how slow or fast (provided the wheels are locked max turn - as minor turns will not sometimes click).

Im my case the CV's do not make any clicking sound in low speed nor medium speed. There only seems to be a knocking or vibrating noise when turning. I certainly think its another suspension or steering component (not the CV) but i am yet to locate it still.

Not sure if its due to cracked and some chunks missing in the stabiliser bar bushings.

just get under the car and see if you can move the CV shaft up and down or side to side. with the car stationary, there should be very minimal play. CV's dont always have to knock, ive never actually had one knock on me before.
