ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

get a new one asap you don't what to cause cavitation or any other horrible damage to your engine like hydro-locking with coolant or melting into a puddle* (exaggerating just a tad bit) as for the price depends on were you get the part or who does it for you

If you perform the work yourself, you shouldn't spend more then $100. Make sure the overheating didn't cause your head to warp. That's when things will get more expensive....

          What?

          How do you figure?

You really should have the head surfaced to ensure it's perfectly flat to promote a good seal, you'll need fresh coolant. A good headgasket from Honda is around $70. You'll also need a new intake gasket and new exhaust gaskets. It would be stupid not to do the timing belt and WP while everything is apart, unless they are virtually new.

I really just have a hard time seeing this done PROPERLY for under $100.

The price of $100 is to change the head gasket only if performing yourself, nothing more....But I would always recommend having the head inspected before changing the head gasket. I think most would agree on that price!

you can go to the auto parts store and get a new head gasket kit with every gasket you need for the entire head and it should only cost you about $100 bucks...keep a jug of water with you until you get it fixed and keep an eye on the temp if you're stioll driving it...foamypirate is right as well you should really get the head resurfaced as well or atleast make sure that it's still level and not warped...clean the old gasket residue of the head etc.

I have to agree with foamypirate I just finished doing just that job on my '90 LX, and if u want to go with felpro gaskets, the head set runs from $140.00 to $165.00, now that includes ALL of the gaskets u will need to get the job done the correct way...Now I did get a head set on ebay which even included the injector o-rings and gaskets that I didn't even need for $45.00, I did complete the job and was able to run my car for 2 weeks but unfortunately the bearing on rod 1 went out so now I'm opening the bottom of my engine to get that fixed. Now yes u must get ur head resurfaced and I would strongly recommend getting it pressure checked also just to go on the safe side and not have to redo the jobs a few weeks after. I had the head done for $130.00 with pressure check and valvce seating and stems replaced...Also as foamypirate says do the timing belt and water pump also. u dont want too have to pull everything out again to replace to WP... hope this helps...good luck
