ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Car slowly dying... smh

    92 ex 217xxx. Ok, so. 2 things.
1: when i turn my key to acc, the oil pressure light is on. Start the car, it runs ok, until i have to idle. Then my idle drops, close to stalling out, and the battery light flashes. It does this a few times, then it will idle fine if im still sitting there. Recently, my battery light flashes weakly sometimes while i'm on the highway.

2: my passenger front window wont go up anymore.. the back two didn't work when i bought it. and the drivers side is slowing down too. good think i have a/c!!.... oh wait.. i don't. smh.

    Any ideas??

Check the battery at your local auto parts store, if its ok, your alternator might be faulty. Oil light; check your oil, do a oil change if you need to, replace the sending unit sensor.

Oil light will always be on when car is not running (IE: only accersories) as there is no oil pressure without the car on. Same with the battery unless it's running. Also while your testing electrical, check a troubleshooting of your ignitor and coil as mine went out and left me stranded

But do the rest of your windows work? If it's just the one, it's proly something wrong with that specific window. Otherwise, def do a full troubleshoot of your electrical system (can be found in the stickies)

      Hope this helps!

Alternator, and Im almost 98% sure. I had this happen to me about a month ago. Windows stop working, alternator, battery, and the occasional oil light would come on. Take it out, and have it checked, or just have it replaced. Careful, you can drain your battery completely, so you might need to recharge, or replace worst case. I had an Optima Yellow, so it started right up, but its different with normal ones...

well about the battery thing id check the wires connected directly to the alternator...my wagon has a plug that came off because it had a clip n it broke.. And about ur windows it can be something as simple as having to lay a ground wire to each door or the regulators or motor...n the windows goin slow could be the battery thing...do the spedometer n tach work fine when the light of the battery flashin??? I know for a fact that when there aint no charge goin to the battery the spedo n tach go nuts...

Agreed, Alternator sounds like the likely source of your problem.

Add this to the list of things can also happen.

I agree with the suggestion to have your alternator tested first.

Once you confirm the system is charging or solve the charging problem then move to the not so urgent items like your window.

If your alternator is not charging (you may have low electricity supply) the electric motors will not have as much electricity to move your windows (possibly causing slow moving windows).

Slow moving windows - spray some silicone on the tracks and guides. It should reduce the friction and perhaps assist in getting your windows moving faster.

Non-working windows - spray some silicone on the rubber surrounds (and let it penetrate). Have someone press the switch down and at the same time hold the window in between the palms of both your hands and apply some steady downward force to assist the motor and jolt the window free from its bind.

Motors are unlikely to die especially in the rear since they are used the least. Likely cause is lack of use and the window just got stuck with build up of dust/dirt cementing with moisture (usually cleared away with regular use).

I did this approach to my car a few times (thinking maybe the motor is shot) but persevered using logic and probability to guide me to keep with it. The window then moved a little (confirming the motor is still alive) and the rest is just more perseverance and patience to dislodge it free then clean, lube and practice the motor up down many many many times.

Don't lubricate the windows with silicone. Use powdered graphite, as it won't dry out the rubber.

I agree with everyone else that the issue seems to be an alternator problem. Have it checked. If one place says it's fine, get a second opinion... many autoparts stores will check it for free, but they're not always staffed by knowledgeable people... and oftentimes their equipment isn't in good condition.

Also, make sure all grounds and battery connections are clean and tight. New or not, a disruption of voltage due to one of these things would cause issues.
