ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

No, you have to drop the gas tank. The issue with that is that most of the parts holding it up are likely to be fairly corroded. It will be difficult, and you'll probably end up replacing a good deal of the parts. I've actually had a friend suggest cutting the metal in the rear of the car over the pump so you can access the pump in the way you mentioned.

not trying to be a dick or anything, but why would you suggest doing something "VERY DANGEROUS"? especially to a brand new member. not to mention destroying the trunk of your car.
like deev said you have to remove the gas tank.. and you will more than likely have to replace a lot of parts. i would only do that if you absolutely have to.Parts For Sale

if you are checking gas lines then id drop the tank. if you are just doing a fuel pump and dont care about making a hole in the trunk which will be hidden by carpet, thats what id do...(which ive done)
i can have a pump out in 15 minutes. and it's not very dangerous at all. it's only dangerous if your tank leaks or have rotted gas lines.

Dropping the fuel tank is not as hard as you make it seemOriginally posted by deevergote View PostNo, you have to drop the gas tank. Quick run down of the steps
Empty the gas tank ( 17mm bolt in the rear left of the tank )
disconnect all hoses going to and from the gas tank ( rear left wheel area ) ( 1 cover is in the way )
Remove 2 straps held on by 2 bolts each
Remove tank from car
Its alot easier with a lift. I've dropped the tank in my cb twice.Well i did once my dad did the second time.

yeah so being concerned for someone's safety is totally being a dick. you have no idea who he is, how mechanically inclined he is, how safe he will likely be while doing the work. my point is are you going to take care of his family if he kills himself while doing this work? i seriously doubt it. mayb you should use a little discretion next time.Originally posted by 92smokeaccord View Postlook i only said it as a last resort and i said its VERY DANGERIOUS.yes people have done it.also i gave him a very good thing to do that I PERSONALLY wrote up.so next time ur "trying to not be a dick" but was any way,id just keep my mouth shut and actually find out what im talkin about.if it were the first option i gave him or the VERY DANGERIOUS option.o and the very dangerious means that its really bad aand a risk.i didnt say he had to do it.....

maybe there is a reason you are supposed to drop the gas tank to change the fuel pump?
congrats on making a DIY you should probably be knighted or given a key to the city, or maybe even elected president of the united states....
oh btw having a rough day is totally an excuse to be an asshole to a complete stranger over the internet. you are totally cool bro.Parts For Sale

Should I ban you both, or is this going to stop now?
He suggested the option, as did I. It is indeed an option. However, he followed his suggestion with a warning, which makes sense. Cutting metal can create sparks. Sparks near a gas tank, especially with the suspicion of rotted lines, can be very dangerous. The option remains, but the risk is present.
If anything, you should be calling me out for suggesting it and NOT saying that it could be dangerous.

I dont know if my 2 cents matter at this point but i agree with Tippey just drop the tank, it will take a couple hours of honest labor but the end result is a clean unmellested cb7, besides that area above the tank is proned to rust so it should be treated not cut open
