ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Which brake pads for slotted rotors?

I'm doing my ROH conversion and purchased some EBC slotted rotors. Now I've done a lot of brake jobs but never on slotted rotors. My concern is I don't want to buy some brake pads that are going to eat up my (expensive) rotors.

    TIA - Gil

EBC Green stuff pads should do it. Don't be tempted to buy Autozone's brake pads. Their semi metallic's have a much harder compound that will take a toll on the rotors. I know this first hand.

        ME TOO !...lol

I'm just about to do the swap all the way around too....but as far as I knew the slotted rotors are designed for aggressive driving styles where a lot of heat is generated in a short time, creating a smooth, less ‘grippy’ face on the pad. The slots are there to cut away that smooth surface and expose new material. Any pad on a slotted rotor will last dramatically last less then say a blank, cross drill or a dimpled rotor.

Seeing as you already have the slotted I gues the best choice would be a ceramic seeing as they are designed to last longer.

        See:

        http://www.ehow.com/about_5090984_ce...dvantages.html

        Less Abrasive to Brake Rotors

Another major advantage that ceramic brake pads have over other, cheaper quality brake pads is that they are much less abrasive and damaging towards a vehicle's brake rotors. Brake rotors, which are cylindrical-shaped metal pieces, are the parts of a vehicle's braking system that are grabbed and squeezed by a set of brake pads to affect vehicle braking. This type of braking action generally produces significant brake rotor wear and damage, damage that eventually necessitates brake rotor replacement. Ceramic brake pads, due to their smoother surface and sounder structural integrity, create less wear and damage, resulting in a longer lasting brake rotor.

I’m going with Zinc Coated cross drilled rotors and the company says I shouldn’t use a ceramic pad because of the coating on the rotor. I’ll just go with a metallic or organic pad. I’d rather have softer pads and get longer and less warp from my rotors.

Zinc coating is standard at no additional cost but nickel plating is +$30 per pair.

Hope that gives ya some info...

Performance Friction, Hawk, Carbotech, Cobalt. Figure out what you need the pad for first though.
