ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Which Slave Cylinder?

Need to replace my slave cylinder, there's a few different brands at each auto store, ranging from $12 to $40. Any suggestions on what to get? I had to replace it a couple years ago and it's leaking already but I don't remember where I got it.

What are the brands, and the price for each brand?
I would stay away from the $12 part.

www.hondaautomotiveparts.com has an OEM unit for $53.80.

Personally, I'm running a cheapie from Autozone... but I also haven't driven my car in 2 years due to no clutch pedal pressure. I haven't been able to get pressure since I replaced the hydraulics.

If money is no issue, I would go with deevergote's advice. If not, autozone's $12 slave cylinder (lifetime warranty) seems to be fine. They are remanufactured part and I think the reason for the low price is just the cost of the seals they use. I just replaced mine and the master as well. Might want to change the CMC too. Good advice I learned from here.

Yea I ended up getting the $12 duralast one. It's the only one autozone had in stock and it has the lifetime warranty so I thought what the hell. I called the stealership yesterday and it would have been $130 "gasp" for an oem. I thought about changing the master cylinder too, but I like to wait until something breaks before fixing it

I'd do both at the same time... get it done and out of the way, because bleeding the system is irritating. (speaking of which, I'm going outside to do mine right now... )

Lifetime warranty is good, but to appreciate the value of higher quality parts very quickly when you're constantly swapping out those cheapie parts under warranty.

I think my slave might be Duralast as well. In fact, I'm quite sure it is. I wonder if that's the reason I'm not getting any pressure...

I got both of mine at Autozone but I think I got the Fenco brand--I don't remember them being Duralast--I think it was like $18 for the slave and $35 for the master. They were the cheapest ones they had in stock-- They have both lasted three (master cyl) and two (slave cyl) years so far with no problems.

My advice is to keep a ziploc bag with ALL of your car receipts in it somewhere where you can always find it for these warranty issues. I keep it in my tool room but if you have a filing system it could go in there as well.
