ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    my first repair and modification!

with the help of a haynes, a bit of prior accord experience, these boards and the search button, my new ishino head gasket is firmly in place along with valve cover, exhaust and oil pan gaskets and new upper and lower honda oem radiator hoses, clips and radiator cap! no more coolant in the oil and everything fired right up and drives nice. the block and head passed the flatness test by a close but tolerable margin! i set the valve clearances, got the base idle AND the base ignition timing set and she sounds wonderful! the only problem: a very minor leak (very likely due to a crack) on the upper radiator hose stem. i'm going to replace it very soon.

homer: half chihuahua half terrier. my partner in crime (and repair)

now on to the goods! if any of you have seen my introduction post, you'll know i used to have a '97 accord and i did a few mods to it in the six years i owned it lol! from that car i still had this: an OG triple O-G tanabe sustec front strut bar! not that red and black nonsense you see these days. just a clean, polished bar (that needs re-polishing after sitting for a few years) and the dark blue powder coated ends. all it needed was some width adjustment and she went right on! with the dx only having the oem front sway bar, there is much to address in the suspension department. since this was already in my garage, it was a no-brainer to start here! feels a lot less insecure on the highways!

thanks to all of you who have answered all the questions that i searched. thanks also to those of you who asked the questions in the first place! and a special thanks goes to the write-up folks! fifteen days into owning my cb7 and i'm loving every second of it!

yes, the cylinder walls are far better looking than that... that picture was taken right after removing the cylinder head so coolant and some oil made their way down and i had just wiped it all off with a shop towel.

as for the head and block i tested it out with a precision straight edge (always good to have friends whose dad's have TONS of tools) and my lash gauges. everything checked out! in the spirit of doing it myself, i just CAREFULLY cleaned the surfaces with a mixture of permatex gasket remover, time and a fresh razor blade. i've read and seen tons of other methods, but i used this same combo when i built my high compression toyota "7age" (1.6L 4age small port head and domed cylinders on and in a 1.8L 7afe block) engine and it ran like a champ in my ae86 for over two years before i sold it (for crazy profit during the drift uprising).
