ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I just put some DC's on my a4 auto. I already had a dynomax cat-back, and that only sounded good (IMO) between 2700-4000 rpm. Now with the DC's on, its growls at pretty much any rpm, but not an annoying fart can sound. I absolutely love it! Also, we just painted mine, but now that it's done it yellowed and we completely followed the curing instructions. just be careful, if it's semi-new, it might have some weak welds and header wrap can shorten those weld's lifespan (esp if it's ceramic coated)...BUT i personally think wrap is better because it reduces temps by a ton more, plus I think it looks great! At the very least, if the paint on it is in bad condition, at least strip it, sand it, and apply a high temp primer to prevent rust.

If it's ceramic coated dont wrap it. It will crack sooner rather then later!

Headers? So you'll install one... what will you do with the rest? (I'm being a smartass... it's an inline 4, you only have one header.)

It's a header. Just like yours. What do you need pictures for?

Agreed. It's mild steel, and should already have that thermal ceramic coating. Wrapping your header is not necessary. It decreases engine bay temps, and can increase exhaust flow velocity by keeping the heat in... but it's hard on the metal, especially the welds.

As for the sound... that will depend partially on the rest of your exhaust system.

                steel

                ceramic coated

if your header is a real DC header then it should be ceramic coated.

You never NEED to wrap a header (and again, it's only ONE header... no "them")

Does your stock manifold melt everything close to it?

Rather than planning your shopping list based on what you heard... it'd be smart to actually understand what you're doing with each part, and why.

That heat shield is nothing but a sheet of metal. How much heat do you really think it shields?
