ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    What f series heads...

i have a f22a4 with 97,548 miles. and was wondering what other heads are interchangable with that engine? and what power can i see in them?

    #2
well you can fit any f22aX head on a f22a block.

you can use dohc h23 head as well, your motor will be like a h23 then with more compression thana f22a but less thana h23.

also you can swap h22 head, but hey please search a lil bit harder, youll find your answer.

The only heads worth using on the F22A block are the F22A heads. Anything else, especially in the hands of someone that doesn't know what they are doing, will be unreliable. The SOHC VTEC heads are garbage, and the DOHC F series heads don't have much to offer... actually, they have less potential than the F22A head.

agreed on the cam. if you get the proper head work done on top of that, those 2 mods will be pretty sexy. if you really want your f22a to hit he hard you need to rebuild the bottom end of the motor. remember the stock redline is 6400rpm and personally i would not push a 20 year old motor to the redline.

Deeve broke my heart when he said the SOHC VTEC heads suck. I was gonna do a F23A turbo.

Lol, anyways I say do the A4 port/polish and all the internals of the head plus the bisi cam. Get the bottom end checked out real good too, might need to work on that too?

SOHC vtec heads are performance pointless. Only good for fuel economy...SOHC vtec heads only work at lower RPMs..and when vtec kicks in ONLY one of your two intake valves open all the way and the 2nd valve only opens part way to create a "swirl" effect to combust more efficiently. Your exhaust vales don't open anymore than normal.

DOHC vtec is the screamer. Both sets of intake and exhaust valves open when vtec kicks in for added power...works on high end unlike the single slammer vtec.

F22a head PnP with bisi cam and bisi header and call it a day. You will see some really nice gains. If you have the cash beef up the block raise your compression and you will have a really nice f22 engine to play around with.

If you want SOHC VTEC with turbo, you can still make more power than you'd ever need on a FWD street car.

                            Your reasoning is incorrect.

When a SOHC VTEC engine of the F22 variety is at LOW RPM, then only one intake valve opens. At higher RPM's (approx 3500) VTEC engages and both intake valves open fully.

However, the main issue with the SOHC VTEC F series heads are that comparatively speaking, the ports are much smaller than the F22Ax heads.

In fact, according to Bisi, there is only one stock Honda head that outflows the F22Ax, and that is the F20C in the S2000.
