ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    H22 Headers

    Hello,

Im new to the forum i hope this is the place to ask this question. I was also going over some older posts but with no luck to my problem.

I have a 1992 EX-R ready for H22a4 S/H model swap. I got my motor and tranny, however it hit me just before doing a swap. "What about the exhaust system?" For the headers, can i use my old F22a full exhaust from engine to tip? That means, once i drop the engine, will it fit with my old exhaust. Because from what I understood, the only difference between F22a, H22a base or SH is the length of the pipe, and a sensor (Please correct me if I'm wrong). Now, once i'll want to upgrade, do i go with a brand new F22a exhaust or H22a? Will h22a fit Accord mounting bolts? I've been working on my Accord for a long time now, and I am pretty excited to finally start making a progress. I've been collecting parts and hopefully it will be done for spring, next year. If this was answered somewhere else, please let me know!

    Thanks!

You must use an H22A header (only one... it's an inline four, no "headers") The F22A header will not fit. I believe the header from an OBD1 H22A will fit just fine. The easiest and cheapest route is to grab a cheap unit, like Megan Racing. The Accord exhaust will work fine. The exhaust is more car-dependant than engine-dependant.

Also, keep in mind that you can't use the Prelude SH transmission. All ATTS transmissions are too large, and will require significant modification to the car for them to fit. Only one person on here that I know of ever even got one on, and he had problems.

Alright. That means I still have to get a SH header, and join it with (for example) 2.2L Magnaflow Exhaust for an Accord? Now, downpipe with flexpipe in SH is about 4inch longer than a Base, which one do i use? Can I go with DC Stainless Header, Base Downpipe, Magnaflow accord exhaust? Sounds crazy haha

No, the SH model was OBD2 only. 5th generation Prelude. A header made for the H22A4 will be too short. You can use it, but you'll need custom exhaust work. Get a header made for a 92-96 Prelude.

You cannot mix and match header parts. Get any header you choose (you're paying for CARB exemption with the DC header... not something you need in Canada...) and use the complete header. Bolt it to an Accord catalytic converter, and use the Accord exhaust of your choice.

Are you telling me that S/H won't fit into CB7? I heard you cant use SH motor and Base tranny because of the oil filter. The guy who sold me the motor and tranny, told me it's a 5th gen 97 sh prelude. I will double make sure today, check the vin number.

Back to the header. To conclude, any kind of a stainless header that comes with a downpipe and flexpipe (for a base model if my motor is base) will fit. Thanks a lot.

All H22A head castings are the same... any H22A header will fit. The 4th generation Prelude header will be the correct length. The 5th generation will be too short. I don't know how else to make that clear.

If it's an SH, it doesn't matter... it IS a 5th generation, and it IS ATTS. No need to dig any further if you know that's what it is. The non-ATTS transmission should fit with no problem on the H22A4. You may want to wait until someone else on here confirms that, but I believe that is correct. The ATTS transmission that came wth the SH will not work. You can keep the engine, but the transmission can't be used.

              will this work?
              http://cgi.ebay.ca/Prelude-92-93-94-...ht_4062wt_1137

it has 2 O2 sensor holes though.

                Yes that will work.

Note that you won't get that sh tranny to fit in a cb, from what I hear no other trans will fit an sh motor, something about the bolts not lining up like.

Are you telling me that there is nobody here (except for one guy) with SH motor and tranny running on their cb7's? And that everybody's running h22 base models? That means my motor is useless since im not gonna fit any other tranny than sh h22? Sweet haha

You only need to use one of those o2 sensor holes. They are there because different models have the o2 sensor in different locations. Accords are the same way. They do that so the header will be universal.

I just checked and False alarm. My tranny serial starts with M2Y4 and the 8th number on my VIN is 4, that means its Base. Wohoo you scarred me there for a moment haha But anyways, i know what kind of exhaust and header i have to get now so Thanks very much!
