ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Lots of Smoke ?!

I have a F22 A4 engine and since I had it , I noticed that at about 4000 RPM and over , it smoke pretty bad . I noticed oil leaking into my spark plugs and wires so I had a new complete valve cover gasket installed and I had the O-Ring changed ( thinking the oil was causing the smoke ) . After that , the smoke decreased a little but it still smokes . I'm wondering if the piston rings or pistons could be the problem ??

It could be. Do a compression and leakdown test, and that will tell you the condition of the internals.

Is it black, blue, or white smoke? Depending on the color, you could be burning excess fuel (black), oil (blue), or coolant (white).

Its black smoke and I do have a serious fuel problem but I've done everything I can think of to improve it . I can't even get 250 miles on a tank of gas .

In that case, you should be addressing fuel issues first.

Is your check engine light on, by chance?

Not now , it came on once : I changed to O2 Sensor and it went off . For the fuel issues , so far I've changed : spark plugs , wires , distributor cap , rotor , air intake and filter , and headers ( old ones were leaking ) and gas mileage didn't change at all . On the highway I can get about 300 miles .

                  Change your fuel filter.

                  Adjust your ignition timing.

That new o2 sensor... lemme guess... Bosch?

That was my next move ( fuel filter and pump ) . But I'm not sure what kind of sensor it is , the guy who changed my headers had it lying around .
And ignition timing , I know I need to change the idle air control valve .

The pump isn't necessary, though never a bad thing. it's a bit of a bitch to change. Personally, I wouldn't until it fails.

You only have one header on an inline four. Look at the sensor and see what it is. If it's a Bosch sensor, change it. Bosch is what most autoparts stores will give you, and what most shops that work on domestics or european cars will give you. That's one downside to not doing your own work.
If it's a Bosch sensor, replace it with Denso or NTK. Bosch sensors do not work properly.

It's true, Bosch O2 sensor did not work on my car at all.

The OP has not mention about cleaning the injectors, yet. Bad spray patterns from injectors will affect the mileage.

Does it happen when it first starts up? If so I had the same problem. Oily plug wires and plugs. Once I changed the VC gasket and plugs it still smoked a week when I first started it up. Turned out to be excess oil burning off from the spark plug chambers or something like that. Now a week later and no smoke. Hope this helps.

theres still 4 more o rings that are on the underside of the camshaft. those are prong to leaking inside the spark plug wells

not on start up , but if i have the car on in neutral and i rev it up , it'll smoke from under the hood .
