ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    DIY intake

Can anyone show me how to turn my stock air filter into a short ram intake.

    #2
Take your stock airbox out, leaving the intake tube on the car. Measure the diameter of the intake tube and then go buy the correct diameter cone filter so it can slip under the intake tube. Make sure you put a clamp on it so it wont slip out when you drive your car.

it will not turn on your check engine light.
and there are videos on youtube that go over intake removal/installation.

but the airbox removal is pretty straight forward,
just find all the bolts that hold the intake filter in place and take them out..

should only take a half hour

if i was you, id just replace the air filter inside the stock intake system with K&N air filter and call it a day.

                Whats your budget?
If your looking to get a few HP quick then Ebay has really cheap air intakes.

this, plus cut out the bottom of the filter box. mounts like stock, gives the hp bump of an ebay short ram.

2 bonuses to this....cost is the same as ebay cheap intakes and you also get much better filtration than the cheapo intakes on ebay! If you really just HAVE to have the look of a cold air intake, just order a cheap one off ebay but the suggestion of a k&n + steelblue's addition will give you overall better results!

Those cheap filters don't work well, though... run them long enough and you'll do damage to your engine due to the excess dust that's allowed to pass through.

I'd change the filter of ANY cheap intake with a K&N or AEM filter.

The stock airbox has actually been shown to flow pretty well. The intake is not really a bottleneck on our cars. Better gains can be seen elsewhere.

If you want a better sound and better performance, buy a drop in K&N filter and "gut" your stock air box. If you want something shiny to flash when you open your hood then you can get a ebay intake, but if you care at all about your car throw away the filter that comes with it and buy a decent one from AEM or K&N.
