ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Which air intake?

I was thinking my next simple mod would be to change my air intake system. My mind draws a blank. First brand I thought of was K&N. So I search for the intake systems and the Apollo CIS caught my attention. For one its different, its universal and priced well. Does anyone have one if so can I get some feed back before I buy one. Also how simple is it for a non tuner to install this. I'm getting tired of paying other people to do stuff to my newborn.

get a short ram intake and get the k&n filter . short ram is MUCH easier to install and safer ( CAIs are known for getting water in your intake )

The splash shield has nothing to do with it. Splashing your filter isn't going to hydrolock your engine. You need to submerge your filter... and unless you manage to create a watertight shield (which would also be airtight, and choke your engine), you would be submerging the filter with or without a splash shield.

People have a serious misunderstanding when it comes to what it takes to actually hydrolock an engine.

A cheap short ram intake pipe with a quality filter (don't use the cheap crap that comes with the pipe!) will do just fine. AEM Dry Flow is my choice, but K&N is very good as well. Apexi has been generating some positive reviews too. Don't be sucked in by gimmicks, and don't spend a ton of money... if there's a difference, it MIGHT be 1-2hp. Nothing you're going to feel.

I would definitely just go with the short ram air intake so that you wouldn't have to worry about the hose or any clearance issues and since ur just looking for a simple bolt on. My recommendations would be either AEM or K&N. you won't gain a ton of HP let alone 10 but it's something. good luck on the install!
