ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Wrist Pins? How hard is it?

I am looking at a 93 SE Coupe in craigslist and the owner claims that the motor runs, only it apparently needs wrist pins.

    Clist post:

How hard is this to fix? Should the whole motor be dropped? How much is it going to cost to fix?

If you're going to replace the wrist pins that would mean you have to get the pistons out of the motor. So yes, you more than likely have to pull the motor out. I'm not experience dealing with rebuilding a bottom end, so I'm not sure what this will include. I'll leave that open to someone with more experience to tell you for certain. However I severely doubt you're going to be able to pull the pistons out with the motor still in the bay. If you do it yourself and you have the tools I don't think it will be too expensive so long as you do it right, if all you need truly is wrist pins. However if you have a shop do it for you it could cost you quite a lot.

As far as level of difficulty. I'm going to say this is up there high on the difficulty scale. Since you have to pull the motor out and pull it apart then rebuild the pistons then put everything back together right so you dont have leaks and the timing is perfect.

if the wrist pins are fubared, then more then likely the pistons are fubared, and the block is fubared, just replace whole motor its cheaper

if your question is how hard is it? wrist pins, well imagine it like this, a wrist pin aka piston pin takes a great load, it stops once at tdc, and once at bdc, it takes the force of being hit with a 6,000lb dump truck 77times per second. (think about that next time your reving past 7,000)
