ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Replacement fuel tank questions.

    Replacement fuel tank questions.

So, I need a new fuel tank. Why? Because many many years ago when my sister owned my car, she liked to jump it. Somehow she managed to put a large dent into it. The story is in my Members ride.

Main problem is the dent is right under the pickup, so the last 1/8 of my gas gauge is useless. I never really know when I'm gonna run out other than when it starts sputtering at stops! The other problem is the most I have been able to fill it to is 12 gallons, not the normal 15 or so. I'd like to have the extra range!

So my question is has anyone had any experiences with a certain brand of a replacement fuel tank? Any problems?

I know its not a commonly replaced part and tried searching but couldn't find anything specific.

I also plan to replace the fuel pump and sending unit along with the new tank. Any suggestions or brands I should lookout for?

Also during the removal and install what are some problems I may run into?

having just done this about a week ago for emissions....REPLACE THE GASKETS! they are very old and will not seal and you won't pass emissions b/c of a pressure leak.

They cost a grand total of about 13 dollars and change from Honda so its a no brainer.

But its really bulky and awkward to lift. I managed to do it on jackstands lifted to almost the highest setting though. Also drain out as much gas as you can. Each gallon weighs about 8 lbs so take that into consideration.

Also, replace the crush washer if you do decide to drain it before install. Mine started to leak after removing it and trying to reuse it, but its a good thing I had some spares.

Other than that its a pretty straight forward process. The lines will be hard to remove....they were hard for my Arizona car so if you live in the northeast, then yeah it'll be a bigger bitch than mine was.

The tank, empty, weighs about 40 lbs but is doable. I'm a pretty skinny guy, 5'11 and 145, don't work out at all and still was able to lift it up and put the straps back on .

But be prepared to have some gas containers if you decide to drain it. When I thought there wasn't anything in it, it still had like 5 gallons left haha. I had to use water jugs to catch the rest after my 2 gallon containers filled up including my car wash bucket.

Oh and you also have to remove a couple interior pieces....I had a coupe though, so you may have to remove more for your sedan. There's a 10mm ground and then a plug towards the pass. side that goes to the sending unit wiring...which then connects to the fuel pump under the car.

As for fuel pumps, the Walbro 255 is a good one. But the OEM one is super convenient and fits well, perfectly...trust me, you don't want to be doing this many times b/c you installed an aftermarket one incorrectly.
