ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

500 for 93 coupe worth it?

hello, i do not currently own a cb7 but i came to this site for info on a possible project that has came to mind.

My buddys aunt has a 93 accord coupe that looks to be in pretty good condition, but has a cracked block. it is also automatic. he said i can have it for 500. i like the style of the cb7s and i wanted to buy this car and do a h22 swap with manual transmission. is it worth it? and how much would all this cost to be reliable?

and is there any engine type in the same price range that would better?

Do you have alot of extra $$$$$$$????? if so go for it and do h22 swap but if dont have alot $$$ then idk but otherwise they are really good and reliable cars to have.

a swap and 5 speed conversion could easily run up to $2,500+ if your using new and used oem parts...if your anal about using cheap stuff it could be alot more than that

well i don't have unlimited funds. but i dont expect to pull this off overnight. i already have a daily driver with light mods and the accord would just be sitting for a while until i get everything needed to swap.

about how much including the 500 for the shell would you think it would cost me?

2000-2500 would be around my price range. as i plan to dedicate the rest of this semester, summer, and some of next year to get it running good

            h22a swap

id say h swap it,you can get the complete motor from tiger japenese auto parts for around 845.00 plus shipping.then all u would need is the vtec ecu (p28) or something.it will be in your price range if your doinng the work yourself.also you would have to run the wires from the ecu to the vtec solenoid.i will more than likely be doing this myself to my 93.ive pretty much got it priced, outside of a couple of upgrades like heavier mounts an such..but then on the other hand your going from auto to maual so idk how much that takes

If the cosmetics are in good condition $500 is a good deal. No project is ever going to be cheap, but if you save a good chunk of money by buying a rolling shell then go for it. Even more so if that car isnt going to be your daily. How sure are you its a cracked block? Could be something way less serious that doesn't require as much work. Also for 5-speed swaps you will need an Auto to 5-speed conversion mount to make the manual transmission fit, as the mount welded in the bay is different then the mount in the manual transmission bay. This is one of the best places to use for the swap mounts. http://www.explicitspeedperformance.net/ESPHAMMK.html
I would also look in the for sale section of this and other forums see if you can find a good deal on an H22, some one was selling one for like $400 on here not to long ago.
              -Just my 2 cents.

              Sold too: Grumpys93, '93CB7Ex, Bunta, prodh22accord, SSMAccord, fleetw00d

500 isnt bad. I just picked up a mint 92 that needed a transmission and some gaskets for 400.

Ask for 350 and its sold! lol
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Do not go with tiger unless you live in Canada. They don't always ship working motors and a international lawsuit will cost and you may still be out the $$$. You can get a H22 with LSD for about $2400.00 I just got one for $2325.00 to drop in a 90 Cb7 Coupe. Then all the parts and price of the shell could be maybe $4500.00 with good parts and going to the DPS to do the title transfer. $500.00 isn't bad if there is no rust in quarter panels and interior is good. I would also try for $350.00

For 500 I would say that's not too bad. You can goto the junkyard and pull all the parts you need for the manual swap. I would invest in a brand new clutch and flywheel, as well as the transmission mount, and seals. Everything else could be found at a yard. I'd say with some luck hopefully no more than 750 spent right there.

As for the motor, the source is up to you. There are importers such as TigerJapanese, JDM Engine Depot, HMotorsOnline, eBay, JDM Engines Inc, Etc. I've heard the good and the bad. My only advice is to go with the one you think is best, regardless of price. HondaMarketplace is an option as well as searching on CraigsList and your local classifieds as well. However I would not pay more than 1000 for a longblock, and no more than 1600 for the complete swap.

As for the labor, we don't know your mechanical experience so it's up to you. Shops can charge upwards of 900, some as low as 500. If I were you I'd pull the cracked block out first then have it towed with an empty bay, the savings could be big. But if you're doing it yourself than you're good to go.

Post a pic up that way we can see how good the car is remember it's more money to do body work than to do an engine swap. If the body is rust free and the suspension is good go for it.
