ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Motor go boom boom. H23vtec

So I bought my cb7 off my buddy and I ran the motor (h23a1) too hard without enough oil and I basically killed my engine.... . The new transplant I'm going for is the jdm h23a(vtec). I know the aftermarket support is better with the h22a, but I'm looking into more torque. A question I had was that I have a whole entire h23 head to exhaust for my h23a1. Will I be able to mate the downpipe from my setup to a h23a head?

This is the engine I'm looking at.

wasn't this F22HB's old car. thats a shame,

the h23 vtec doesnt really make enough torque over the h22 to justify the added cost, (only 9), plus your red line is lower, and i am sure you are going to want to rev it all the way to the sky once vtec kicks.

i would go ahead and buy an h22, then save up for some bisi level one cams, or maybe even type s cams, (i do not know which is better, but i think the costs are close to the same). heck even just a chipped ecu and a tune on a stock H22 and you should see some improvements.

      Ya it's F22B's old one....

I'm now looking at this guy then.

I will have the funds to do it all in another 2 weeks. I was really debating on the h22a as well, just feels like the two are pretty evenly matched. Plus it will also have a wider aftermarket support. If I'm switching motors the h22a should just drop right in I believe and I would also need to get a p13 ecu? Would there be anything else I would need for the swap? Thanks for the quick feedback aswell.

If somebody pays $750 for some Type S cams, then they need to get out of the game. I wouldn't pay more than $200 personally. Keep in mind also that he recommends an upgraded valvetrain and cam gears. Type S cams can just be slapped in.

I only see the type s for about $720. Where do you think I can find them for cheaper?

Where are you finding these cams at? InlineFour.Com? If you're trying to buy them brand new then yes they will be about $700. Just buy them used. Check HondaMarketplace or get your posts up and check the Classifieds here as well.

No but ya I was looking at them new. Ya I don't mind used ones at all. I'm almost to my thread count so ya hopefully I will be able to find some. Right now the goal is to get the engine then probably I/E/H than the type s cams with a tune. I'm not sure on if I can do the valvetrain yet though. Depends on how much they cost.
