ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    TRANNY ??? (shift cables)

How often is it for shift cables to go bad and how can u tell if they are bad. I have a 94 accord lx and im currently swapping to a h22a motor and tranny.

Depends. I have heard of some people having this issue, I've never encountered it, and its not a very common issue. If your cables aren't broken I wouldn't worry about replacing them.

for you engine and tranny swap, is the tranny maunal?

all i know for sure is when you have an auto tranny if you cant shift from "P" to any gear or "N" then replacing the shift cables is your best bet. If its not the cables then it could be a fuse, 20A i think. this is for auto trannys. not sure for manual. hope this helps and good luck on the swap

Disconnect the cables from the shifter and transmission. Then try to slide the cable by hand. If it won't slide easily, look for damage... either a tear in the plastic sheathing (which could indicate corrosion of the cable, or a kink in the cable. Those are really the only two things that could cause the shift cables not to function properly.

even so when the shift cable are cracked they stil work properly. Example me i got a set from the junk yard and they were cracked both cables 5 bucks cause i was using them for a project (wink) yeah a manual swap project. i cracked them in a couple places but they work fine. as long as you dont get chunks missing then you should be ok.

Cracked cable sheathing can allow oxidation or dirt to cause the cables to bind. It also gives the cable somewhere to go, rather that being confined to the sheath... so the cable could come out of the sheath rather than moving back and forth as intended... so cracked cable sheathing is not good.
