i am only getting about 150 miles out of one tank. i have just done a small tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv valve, air filter) and that didnt help at all. is there any common problems with these cars that would cause such a decrease in mileage?

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

ive had it for about a month and the engine light came on about two days ago but hasnt come back yet. also the idle is really messed up, if that has anything to do with it. ive already read a couple post on that issue though. nothing is really leaking from the car and i dont smell gas anywhere at anytime but that is one thing i checked for.

If the CEL came on and went away, it's probably the o2 sensor.
Read the sticky thread at the top of this section to see how to read and interpret the ECU error codes. I'm quite sure one of them will be Code 43, or maybe 41... both o2 sensor codes. Replace your o2 sensor with a Denso or NTK unit. DO NOT USE BOSCH (and that's what most autoparts stores will give you... so be warned... they don't work!)
In the same sticky thread, you'll find detailed info on how to set your base idle and ignition timing. That will help a good deal as well.

Yeah, for mpg that bad, it's probably a number of things... and honestly, fixing it ASAP will be very important. Not only is it expensive to drive a car that gets such poor fuel economy, but it could be damaging the engine, too!
Also, do a compression check, and make sure all cylinders are getting spark. It's entirely possible (with the horrible mileage and bad idle) that you have a problem cylinder.

i don't evenOriginally posted by VoloCB7 View PostSomething that really fixed my gas problems was replacing my idle air control valve and adjusting my fart idle valve. I was getting about 8mpg before I changed it now even with a bad cat I still get about 250 meals to a tank.
HUGE change!
