ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Failure on timing belt procedure: damaged rear balancer driven pulley 12 bolt

Hi guys! I tried to change the timing belt on a F20Z2 of a 94 cc7, the timing belt procedure is the same as ours. All was good, it just remained for me to exctract the 12 bolt of the rear timing balancer belt driven pulley, but it was too tightened. So what had to arrive, arrived! And i damaged the bolt!

1/ Who has already had this case?

2/ How can pull off this bolt?
-Sorry if my english is bad, i try to improve it and do my best to be understood

I know there are special sockets that are used for stripped hex, but I don't think I've ever seen them for 12-point... You basically hammer on this socket, extract, and you pretty much need a new bolt to reinstall after you remove it.

I've done the same on a car or two at work, newer Civics, I believe. My solution of mega Vise Grips and a LOT of leverage, which is hard in cramped spaces like that, worked for me but I wouldn't advise it unless you really had to.

~$20 at sears. I have one and it has saved my ass several times. Its a good thing to have for other bolts too.

          thanks guys

EJX_Michael could you give me the name of the tool box? or a link please? i prefer this method rather than drill the bolt or shock it.

Is Sears it the website "www.sears.com"?

they carry a similar set at advance auto parts.

you can get away with just marking the pulley with a dab of whiteout, instead of removing that bolt and using a screwdriver.

Oh shoot! I didn't even notice your location... You wouldn't have a sears for many many miles.

You will have to go to a hardware store most likely. Print out the picture of that kit and ask someone at the store if they have anything like it.

So i looked for this boxtool here, i found it in Beta but the price is outrageously expensive! 400€ (~$(570) for a set 3pieces (17-19-21)

Good point! Sears does international shipping

@cp[mike]: thanks! Friends also advised me this method, simple and effective! i will test it

You dont need to remove that bolt to get everything lined up.
There are marks on the block you can use to line up the pulley.

It's true for the cam pulley, the front and center timing balancer driven pulley, but i never saw marks for the rear. I'm not mechanic so if it's written in the service manual, i prefer to follow the instructions
