ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Seeking advice on front end work

My 92 Accord has 202K miles on it; I have been the only owner of this car and have kept every maintenance record for it. The last time the CV joints were replaced was 80K miles so I know I need new ones since they are throwing grease and are probably torn. I am also leaking oil from the seals in both sides of the front axle.

My records do not indicate I have ever had these replaced. I had new tie rods and bushings put in around 100K. Should I have the CV joints and axle seals replaced all at the same time? I know it will be costly and I don't desire to do the work myself on this. Should I just have them replace the whole front end? I am going to keep this car a long time so I don't mind putting money into it. Thanks for advice.

Anything that is leaking should definitely be replaced. Ignoring a leak will only lead to other problems. The work shouldn't be TOO costly, I don't believe... though I've never changed the seals, so I can't say for sure what that involves.

Agree, it kills me to see oil of any kind on the garage and I have to know where it is coming from so I can get it fixed. Thanks.

It's nice to see someone that's eager to keep their car in top shape, even if it costs. Especially an original owner! We only have a few original owners on here. It's impressive to see after nearly 20 years!

Replacing the seals at the same time as driveshaft R&R won't add much to the repair cost. Maybe one or two tenths, plus the cost of the seals and possibly some trans fluid.
