ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    RESTORE Products

I've heard good things about these products, and my dad had good experience with the Engine Restorer on his '90 BMW 325is. Anybody tried them?

Snake oil... i wouldn't use them. At tops, they are only a temp fix by making your oil thicker.

My mechanic used it and his brother who runs a machine shop likes it for high milage motors. He said he checked his compression and such after using it for 3 months and it brought it up. I'm running it now and my car runs smoother with it, but as far as the compresssion and everything else goes idk cause I havent checked it.

I did a compression test about a month ago, and all my cylinders are between 175-180 psi. I'm really interested mostly in whatever cleaning Restore might do.. particularly in the chamber, the valves, injectors, etc.

Yeah it looks like it's about the same as the Lucas Oil Stabilizer. Which seems to help high mileage motors.

There is no such thing as engine repair in a bottle.

There are plenty "snake oil" products, as well as products that claim to bring engines back from the dead. Avoid those products. That being said, there are plenty of good products that help remove carbon deposits and clean fuel system components, which certainly will make a car run smoother, get better milage, and can increase compression. I have zero experience with Restore brand products, but if they claim it helps to clean the engine of deposits, and not that it will bring a dead engine back to life with 20% more power, it couldn't hurt. They've been around quite awhile, and likely carry some kind of guarantee. I've personally used a Yamaha motorsport product called Ring-Free in many machines with excellent results of decorbonizing valves, rings, pistons and combustion chambers, even helping clean partially plugged carb jets. If your car is like most and has high miles, continual use, or better yet a "shock" (high concentration) treatment would be the only way to see any gains. I would recommend a shock type treatment to only be performed by a competent shop, as they generally involve tapping into the fuel rail and injecting a product at a specific flow rate, and tend to produce a death-cloud of toxic smoke exiting the engines exhaust.

I'm a fan of lucas oil. and i think the theory behind it is it leaves a thick oil residue on your cylinder wall creating a tighter seal so it may bring up compression but for a engine that's on it's last leg may help it to last a bit longer but then again it means you'll have to use it at every oil change. but i use lucas on every oil change for one of my clunkers.
