ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

They may only need to be cleaned or changed. I know thats a common problem with our CBs. Could also just be a burnt bulb or wiring. Im sure theres a thread about it somewhere. Did you try searching?

Yeah, it's usually the door jam switch that needs cleaning. If the alarm is wired the same way I wire mine, it shouldn't matter if the bulb is burnt or not.

I did a write up on using the 4th gen switch in a 3rd gen but it contains a bit about cleaning it out.

Now to disassemble it, remove the screw that goes into the door jamb (already removed in my pic). Then slide the outer casing away from the tab like so.

Pop out the mini spring loaded tab (shaped like l_l ) on the L shaped piece and give it a good wipe down. Be careful when popping it out as it can fly out. Stretching the spring a tad will also assure a good connection when it's back together. Here's a pic after cleaning it out.

Put it back together making the sure the big spring pushing the L out is in the proper area and it's good to go.

I have gotten this problem many times on both of my CBs and all I did was clean them. What you need to do first is tale them off the door and then slide the plastic cover on it off and then you'll see the spring(just be careful not to lose the spring) then you will see the metal piece that makes contact to the other metal piece if the piece is all white and corroded just clean it up with a brush and put some vaseline on it to prevent it from corroding .. After you do that put it back together and screw it back onso it can make contact with the car and the switch should work ... IF you do that and it still doesn't work then go to the junkyard and pick up a few for free

That switch controls the light coming on and the dash light too. All it is is a switch that grounds the one wire when the door opens completing the system.
Fix that switch and it'll solve all your problems.

Check all the door triggers to make sure the spring still works. Also check if they have been snapped. My brother just recently snapped one while taking out shopping bags.

Oh also check the actual door. It could have a dent in it so it wont trigger, My Saturn did that.
