ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    S Mode Switch Rewiring

I am looking for the S switch or s mode switch (whatever they wanna call it) wiring diagrams or whatever so I can hook it up to a toggle switch. There are only 2 wires leading to the original switch which are Lt. Green and Black any help? Funny thing is, in all the repair manuals, they do not show this in the wiring diagrams anywhere. WTF?

The S mode button is for 9091 cars only so maybe you were looking in a 9293 manual

What do you need a wiring diagram for a 2 wire switch anyways?

Green is obviously power and black is obviously ground.

      S Mode Switch

The manuals I was looking into are both for the Accord 1990 - 1993.
Also (in case this is taken the wrong way, I'm not being a smart ass lol) I do all the repairs on my Honda myself and I've done a lot almost everything except rebuilding the engine. I bought it used for a couple hundred bucks and it was in poor condition. (I hate it when people don't take care of their cars)
Anyway, I know the black is ground and green is power, but the switch worked off of a push button switch when means it connected two points in order for the switch to work. But it can't create a connection for the s mode to work by connecting the power to the ground it'll cause a blown fuse or worse. That's what has me a bit confused. Is there supposed to be another wire that is missing? I noticed when I took it out cause it wasn't working that the ground wasn't even connected. It had been torn from the switch and was half way down the wiring shield. So someone at sometime had pulled them wires. Probably from fidgeting around under the shifter to find something.

im still trying to figure out why you want to hook it to a toggle switch when the 90-91 model already has a switch for it. perhaps clarifying what it is you are doing and why will help solve the problem

Are you trying to add the S mode or fix it?

I am trying to fix the switch. Well not the actual switch since it's messed up. I think it's missing parts. Like I said before, the ground had been ripped from the switch and I found it half way down the wiring shield. I'm trying to use a regular toggle switch so i can move the switch and also because I don't think I can use the regular switch.

There are only 2 wires for the switch. I've taken them out before

Using a toggle switch also sounds lame What do you need to relocate the switch for anyways?

I would imagine all you need to do is find where the green and black wires go and extend them and ad a switch, i've never owned an automatic accord before though so im not 100% sure.

or you could just ask if anyone has a spare that you would happily take off their hands. they have one in my salvage yard. not sure if its the color you have, but itll work =P

Lol thank you. but is anyone actually willing to send it to me. But also I really don't want to replace the original. I've opted for using an illuminated switch that I have already made a spot for it on my steering wheel. But i guess it wouldn't be too hard to hook the illumination up to the original switch and move the switch. And the new switch won't work with my new shift knob cuz it doesn't have a place for the switch. And while replacing the shift knob, is when I discovered the problemos with the original switch and I had already intended to rewire the switch.
I noticed after studying the original switch that in order for the s mode to activate the switch would create a connection between the positive and negative wires which doesn't really make any sense to me unless the black is hot when connected to the green. Or perhaps the green wire is a neutral wire that is a ground running to the cpu in order to create a full ground connection.
And by the way, to answer your question, the sedan's seats slide further cuz it has more leg room than the coupe.

Not necessarily... Yes, that is usually the case, but sometimes things aren't always what you expect. It's always best to test with a multimeter first.

For example, in household wiring, the hot wire is often black and green is ground.

What happens is that the input to the computer is connected to + voltage, through a resistor. When the switch is disengaged, the computer sees + voltage relative to ground at the input. The switch is connected to the computer input between the resistor and computer. When the switch is closed, the voltage at the computer input will be 0V relative to ground. The resistor prevents the voltage source being short circuited to ground.

                    Here's a diagram:
                    Code:
                     (+ VOLTAGE SOURCE) ----(RESISTOR)------|-----(COMPUTER)
                                                            |
                                                             \
                                                              \ (SWITCH)
                                                            |
                                                            |
                                                        (GROUND)
So, what that means is that when the computer sees + voltage at the input, it knows to be in one mode. When it sees 0V at the input, it knows to be in the other mode.
