ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Cabin air filter

I was asked this question earlier today, and I thought I'd ask here:

How hard would it be to retrofit a ventilation system from a newer accord with a cabin air filter into our cars?

I realize that could be quite difficult, so my second question is: if I started cutting, where would be a good place to put it? I was thinking right before the evap coil, but that would still require removing the glove box to get to it.

    Ideas?

a lot of dash modification would be required to the point it would not be a quick or easy project that might not get done

have you checked for any threads regarding dash swaps?

No, I intending to keep my current dash, or swap to an SE dash.

This will only happen if my heater core goes out, btw.

        wrong wrong wrong

An evaporator coil modification would be required. The dash would stay the same and not get touched or even removed for the mod.

You would not modify the dash at all. Why the hell do you think that?

The cabin air filter on most hondas goes infront of the evaporator coil. It really wouldn't be hard to do now that i think about it.

I think he was talking about the entire ventilation system.

From R12 to R134? I thought you just had to change some fittings, drain the old stuff, change the drier and add the R143?

x2 on changing the drier. I'd recommend doing it anytime you open the system for more than a few hours.

let me clear this up quick

my 76 Vega never had a/c so that car would need a retrofit

i fully understand now what the OP was saying

now if a member could come up with a workable diy to put a cabin air filter in, i'll use my car as the guinea pig

Well, have you ever had your glove box or evap coil out?

The evap coil is immediately behind the glove box. There are 2 straps and 4 nuts that hold it in, as well as 2 ac lines. Disconnect all that and you'll have space for something.

The ac lines and 100 degree heat kept me from actually pulling it. I simply popped off the metal clips, pried it open, and stuck a shop vac in there.
