Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Prothane

    Has anyone ordered it? I ordered some and the company I ordered it from first said a week back order, but then switched it to a month. I ended up cancelling and buying from another member on here.

    Is this common occurrence, or do they usually have some in stock?

    "They" is most internet websites I checked.

          what are you asking? if its common for companys to have stuff on backorder? what company did you order from? i just use energy suspension because you can buy that stuff at pep boys

            Do you mean, Is buying from a member here common occurrence, or is back order common occurrence, or back orders being pushed out common occurrence?

              Prothane makes bushings. They make a master bushing kit that comes with almost every suspension bushing our cars require.

              I'm asking if Prothane master bushing kits are usually backordered, or if there is a shortage.

                probably depends what you ordered. i know our cars arent the most popular, so stock counts arent the highest. as far as being backordered, i would hope this isnt the case for anything they make for our cars, but sometimes a lot of websites will list an item for sale that has been quietly discontinued and then only the occasional purchase will cause somebody to realize the part isnt available, assume its backordered, only to find the manufacturer "doesnt know when, or if, we will be making another batch of those". though Prothane is still going strong so you probably would have just needed to wait, which sucks, but i doubt the master kit is discontinued.

                and *privately* buying something (even with <30 posts) is fine.

                  Conducting business via PM with less than 30 posts is not encouraged, and will result in a ban if it becomes known. Wait until you have 30 posts, and conduct your business then.

                  However, if it is a local transaction, then that is different. If money and parts change hands directly, in person, then that eliminates this site from being involved.


                  The reason we are so cautious with buying and selling on here is that people are far too trusting, and scamming them is very easy. Especially on a site like this, where people seem to feel a kinship with others that have the same type of car. They make very easy targets. We try to make it so people are at least informed before they purchase. We also try to make it a bit too complicated for someone to bother trying to make a quick buck. There are much easier sites to scam on than this one, as long as the rules are followed.

                    I can only speak to the quality of prothane trans mount inserts, and the quality is darn good. Energy suspension makes some decent products as well if your looking for better bushing options. I installed the master set on my 91 and I absolutely love the quality and fit of their bushings.
