ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Regreasing a CB7?

So recently I drove with my father in the car and since we were having a conversation my sound system was very low and we noticed that when i go over speed bumps or any type of bumps my car has like squeaky noises

My dad said that it could be the car needs to be " re-greased" because its an old car, sounds logical enough, but wanted to know what my fellow CB7 owners thought about the situation and what those noises could possibly be thanks for any replies!

More than likely its worn out suspension parts. On some cars you have a nipple. And you put the gun on it pump it full of grease and it lubricates the parts to stop squeaking but I don't think I've seen any on our cars.

Some new parts will come with that. IE, my new tie rods came with a nipple.

OP, check your ball joints. That'd be my guess.

These cars are not the type that needs greasing... that's how OLD cars worked. Our greased parts are sealed, such as ball joints, and must be replaced when they begin to fail or dry out.

I'm having the same problem and was hoping that WD40 could help me. Would that be even a good approach to solving the problem or will that be a waste of time?

I just found out today that some boots are replaceable. Today I purchased an outer tierod boot for 4 dollars. You can also purchase lower balljoint boots from honda as well. The guy was able to look it up on his computer

Can bushing also cause those types of noises? or would it just give a harsher ride with no noise?

Go through your suspension and find the bad component and replace it. If its sealed you cant spray wd-40 in there. But if you open it you make in variably to so many things that aren't safe (like water dirt) and cause it to fail sooner and break while driving.

WD-40 is a water repellant, not a lubricant.

You can replace the boots, but there is no way to shoot new grease into the joint itself.

I just replaced the lower ball joints and outer tie rods in my girls CB. Her car was squeaking like crazy and now its nice and quiet. The lower BJ's were at their breaking point!

they can, but the more annoying, more important squeaks are often from failing balljoints, like others have said. check the upper and lower ones on the front, upper ones on the back, tie rods, and then inspect all the bushings. bushings are most likely fine, unless your sway bar endlinks are falling apart (thats a common one)

If the ball joints are failing to the point of making noise, I suggest that you don't even drive the car until you fix them. When a ball joint fails, you crash. Very often ball joints give no warning.

When inspecting the ball joints, if the boots are ripped, replace the joints.

DO NOT USE WD40 on the rubber boots. Use silicon grease. The WD40 will eat away your rubber stuffs.
