ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    balance shaft belt delete

What drives the oil pump on a F22A4 after balance shaft elimination or belt removal .
I know that balance shaft elimination is possible and I know Bisi and others sell kits. I also know the belt can be removed leaving the shafts in place. I'm not looking for antithetical information other than What drives the oil pump because it is driven by the balance shaft belt. Do you reroute the timing belt? Thanks ahead of time

The oil pump is not driven by a belt. The crankshaft drives it with a gear.

Since the topic has been opened, So what is the purpose of this belt besides reducing vibration?

Does anyone have pics of this? Cause in the Haynes it looked like its driven by the BS belt, and when my mechanic was just replacing timing belt tensioner he said he couldn't remove the BS belt cause it drove the oil pump. Just so you know I'm not questioning you I just wanted something to show him the next time I had him work on my car.

My understanding of it is because a inline 4 cylinder motor is not symmetrical it creates vibration and the balance shafts counter act that vibration. BS belt = balance shaft belt. Still new to this forum thing haven't quite figured out how to quote other posts from different threads yet

The balance shaft belt does not drive the oil pump. I've been driving without a balance shaft belt for years. i just removed the belt. Left the shafts in.

So I can get to the balance shaft belt without removing the lower timing cover?

I removed the "BS belt" lol. Hood vibrates at idle, not really noticeable.

I would think you would still have to remove that lower timing cover.

a "delete kit" is not necessary to remove the balance shaft belt. You can just remove the belt. Delete kits are to remove the actual balance shafts themselves. Yes you have to remove the timing belt cover to remove the balance shaft belt.

Oh ok I thought you had to install the delete kit to do it properly. But that is just to make it clean looking, correct?

So just so I understand right. The pulley on the rear of the motor above the crank pulley is the balance shaft and that goes through the oil pump. And that's not the drive pulley for the oil pump
