ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Your right, I totally put you down. I checked you on telling him to do something OTHER than replace his o2 sensor, which is what his issue is. If you cant handle someone telling you your wrong then so be it.

Ok guys, calm down. My car is a 90 LX auto. It does not stutter a lot but when going from 3rd to 4th gear, I notice the tach sorta bog down a little, but the car still accelerates smoothly. However, if I let go of the gas pedal a little I see the tach jump a little then the car accelerates a little faster as well.
No codes, would my O2 sensor is going? I have done most of every thing except changing the o2 sensor. I don't want to spend the money without throwing the code.
Question on removing the o2 sensor, what do you guys recommend to remove it easier?

          Thanks.

I hope this argument stops before I have to make it stop...

Anyway, yes, the o2 sensor can cause problems before a code is thrown. Hell, I have bogging issues and my sensor only throws a code 43 occasionally... and usually only when it hits highway speeds (55+).

To remove the o2 sensor, you will definitely want to get the special socket for it. it's slotted to allow room for the wires. You can borrow them from most autoparts stores, or just buy one. PB Blaster may help a bit, as would heating it up with a torch (I don't suggest both... PB Blaster is flammable!)

I got an o2 sensor socket. I bought it from Harbor Freight when I was still working there. How about if we heat up the car instead of a torch? I think PB Blaster is better. Thanks.

I always wondered why getting the car to operating temp wouldn't be sufficient... many people say to use a torch.

I've actually never removed an o2 sensor myself. The one that's failing is still in my car, which hasn't been started in 3 years (working on that now.) I just started using a chip that ignored the o2 sensor (chipped P28 for my H22). NOT a good option, but it held me over for a bit.

Shit, it stopped 10 hours ago, I didnt wanna keep it going it was pointless. I always use a closed end wrench to remove my o2 sensor, never needed anything to loosen it. Use 2 wrenches together to help with leverage, works everytime!

I got an O2 socket and a breaker bar. But first I got to find a new O2 sensor. I know I need a Denso or NGK but dude, NGK is much more expensive. The OEM, which brand is it?
Is there a quick way to test it other than the ohm meter? I guess I can unplug it and take it on the freeway and see if it happens again. If it hesitate then it's not the o2 sensor, if it does, then I need to save up for the o2 sensor. The price range from $35 for a new Denso to $150 for NGK. Which one is the better bet? All the prices are from Ebay.

                    Thanks.

Get Denso, they are around $40ish, yeah NGK are way more.

Get Denso... but buy from RockAuto. I wouldn't trust an Ebay seller to send you the right part (they may, they may not... but RockAuto WILL.)

I'm not aware of any difference in quality between the two brands, so go with the cheaper of the two.

                          Thanks guys,
Just check with Rock Auto, $32 shipped Denso brand new. Some other weird brand cost more. Wonder that would be. So if the price is still the same next month, I'll buy that. That if my MPG does get back to 26 with my auto like when I got it.
I did the mod with that round filter from the DIY section. Should I get the flowdry AEM instead since it can be clean with water and air dry? The Spectre one needs oil.
I was going to unplug the O2 sensor today and take it for a test drive on the freeway to see if the problem goes away. However, just check my wife's 99 Corolla and that thing is 2000 miles overdue. So did the oil change instead. It was hot today. She drives 100 miles to/from work each day. Lucky she works 10 hours days and 4 days per week. Lucky, I used good synthetic oil in that thing. Freaking 8000 miles on the last oil change. At this rate I got to change the oil out every 3 months or so. I change the oil at around 6000 miles with synthetic.
                          Thanks.

I looked at my car, it's the NGK in there now.
