Overheating/Leaking

looks like oil has been leaking out of the oil cap.. other than that I can't place anything.. there's a slow leak on the driver side of the motor and the valve cover looks like it had been freshly painted black.. .. passenger side of the valve cover is dry and dirty..

when the engine is running there's no ticking, and no smoke coming from the exhaust.

I really don't know much about this stuff, so please be patient with me..

It's impossible to leak oil from the oil cap itself , unless it's not properly tightened. Only way for the oil to leak from the oil cap area is through a worn out valve cover gasket and/or camshaft seal. (which is normal if it's still the original gasket).

I'm not sure if it's the original, I've only had the car in my possession since monday.

The oil by the cap is probably from when your dad changed the oil. The slow leak on the drivers side is probably either your cam seal or your balance shaft seal, or both.

I'm thinking I may just need to take it to a shop and get them to check it out. See where I need to go from there...

Did you look at the plugs? if your losing oil and coolant, and there's no sign of an oil leak, your burning it in the engine. And that sounds like a bad head gasket.

U deff want to make sure that this is not the problem..for sure check ur oil in the morning

Checked the oil earlier, dip stick was dry. gonna add some oil in the morning and see what happens

Found another f22A1 locally for 250.. May call about it for more information.

Also found an F22B DOHC from a 92 prelude Si... For 300.

it appears that my issue was traced to the oil filter. it was loose. going to keep an eye on it for the next few days.

That doesn't explain the coolant leak. Did you check the hose where it connects to the head under the dizzy? Glad the missing oil just ended up being a loose oil filter.

Ended up being the water pump. Glad that its taken care of... Now on to other things!

So your leaking coolant from the water pump?

Yea it was leaking from the weep holes and with each day it got worse. Changed it and did a pressure test/ leak down and everything checked out. Not noticing anymore leaking.

Me too! It's such a headache when you don't have access to proper tools nor jack stands/lift..
