ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

There hasn't been nearly enough information presented to arrive at that conclusion. That's like telling someone with a headache that they have brain cancer. Possible? Yes... but not definite.Originally posted by Juicebox00 View PostValve guides or rings are worn out and your burning oil
Were any of your spark plugs wet with oil? One of the most common causes of burning oil involves the spark plug tube seals. Wet plugs indicate a failure here. Other than that, the wild guess presented as a fact quoted above may be the case. You're on the right track with the compression and leakdown tests.

The spark plugs were dry of oil. 2/4 were a little dark, one was ok, and the other spark plug had a little grayish on it.Originally posted by deevergote View PostThere hasn't been nearly enough information presented to arrive at that conclusion. May I add that I just spoke with a freind of mine that helped me out used a rag with Lucas Fuel Conditioner to wipe the cylinder walls and top of the pistons to prevent rust?
Im not a technician but I do know quite a bit about cars, but that definately did not sound like a good idea to me? I hope not but, there definately wasnt any smoke prior to this install. And now the car smokes after normal operating temperature is reached. The only thing I did that probably would ring a bell was take the head off and it has been sitting for about 2 weeks with the head off but engine was covered. I seriously dont think that is the cause either but a leakdown test MUST be performed. Im getting a little frustrated....

Ok, I just done a Leakdown Test and got 27% leakage in all cylinders. I found the leak through the oil cap on the VC and through the TB (motor was warm and all cylinders where all at TDC btw). And there was no leak at all through the exhaust or radiator. So im beleiving that the valve guides are bad? And how would it be if the head was remanufactured? Idk, but thats something I gotta take up with the shop that rebuilt the head. Any other suggestions?

Well if your hearing air thru the intake and the VC sounds like bad valves and rings. I'm not a professional, just going off what I've read. Sounds like its time for an overhaul.Originally posted by sportbutton? View PostOk, I just done a Leakdown Test and got 27% leakage in all cylinders. i thought if the rings were bad you would hear the leak through the crankcase/dipstick?Originally posted by dj_ender View PostWell if your hearing air thru the intake and the VC sounds like bad valves and rings. You could be right, I was always under the impression you could hear it thru the VC as well. Regardless your gonna have to pull the head again and do some inspecting. Hopefully you just need to replace the valves.Originally posted by sportbutton? Yeah I know I have to pull the head back off either way. I think I will end up doing the valve guides myself simply because I dont want to go thru the whole "ebay seller hassle" with unreturned emails, poor customer service, and what not. But anyway, I hope thats all I have to do also. I appreciate your help! Maybe this could help someone else and they could learn from wth I did! But thats what I get for trying to save a dollar and taking the ebay route instead of looking for an A6 top end upgrade.Originally posted by dj_ender View PostYou could be right, I was always under the impression you could hear it thru the VC as well.
