ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Idle, power loss, and bad MPG

    Yo CB guys,

I saw a similar thread a while back but I can't find it again.

Been a minute. I finally worked out my head issues shortly after I got it all back together my ignitor went. Replaced the dizzy, (Gotta do it again, I just rebuilt a JY dizzy) but long story short,

The cold idle I think is supposed to be at 1500 (Right?) well my cb idles between 4-800.
I've checked tps, IAC, FITV, coolant levels, IAT sensor, coolant temp sensor, and I don't know what else to check.

It takes forever to warm up sometimes the needle doesn't move until I drive and when I try to drive it's like I'm not giving it enough gas and it wants to stall like a noob at driving a stick.
After it warms up it idles fine about 900 rpms I guess. After I drive a little or if I hold the pedle at 2000 rpms the needle will move.

When I come to a light the idle holds steady for a while then drops and comes back up every 30 seconds or so.

Everything is TDC and the only thing at this point that I know I need is an intake mannifold gasket which gotta wait since I broke my hand.

Aside from what I've checked on the car I've removed cruise control, power steering, and A/C. Maybe one of those has something to do with this. Dunno

Thanks for viewing and thanks even more for feedback and help.

Sounds like you definitely need to address that intake manifold gasket. Has alot of symptoms of an intake leak.

There is a unit on the manifold that is called the fast air control valve i think im not sure on the name but it has two philip screws on a copper looking plate. Remove it by removing screws and then taking the screw driver and turning counter clockwise untill the sring style unit is removed and clean it with carb cleaner, then put back in and tighten it completly down untill you cant tighten anymore. I had exact same problem and it took me 10 min. to fix it. hope this helps im sorry if the name of the unit is incorrect i dont remember the name =) just trying to help out

sounds like one of your CTS' are bad. most likely the one under the dizzy. the plug on my car is loose and comes off sometimes and my car idles at 1500 rpm like cold start. ohm it with a DMM and see what your reading based on the temp.

        do you have any CEL's?

dumb question, but are you running the appropriate ECU for the engine and tranny configuration?

                these are fin issues

I actually jabbed quite similar symptoms with my h22.

Idle problems seem, for me at least to be some of the hardest to diagnose.

I have a few ideas on mine, but the issues started after my battery and alt went out. After replacing the alt I started getting these issues and my alt contol is not doing as it should. My voltage while crusing would fluctuate between 12.5 and 14.2 v. This is a huge swing compared to what I had before.

I am looking at eld issues, and will be pulling all my spark and intake work out in a few weeks for some scheduled maintenance, so I will check those then.

It also seems to have an affect on my tps voltage as my fuel cut (based on tps) changes randomly while driving.

My iacv works, and I can adjust the duty cycle and hear it change, so I don't think its that, I have no fitv.

Will let you know if I find anything out.

Is it throwing a code? Mine was doing that on cold starts and throwing a Code 14 for IACV. I think my ECM might be bad but still troubleshooting.

It is pretty hard to hurt a Honda ecu. If you are throwing an iacv code have you tried replacing/ cleaning the iacv?

I was running a p13 at first. Had the same issue. When I put the p13 back in it's a little wierd. For example if I'm driving and come to a light it'll idle at around 2500 tried adjusting the same stuff. I'm running a chipped and tuned p28 now.

I'm not throwing any codes. Heck sometimes I think I used the jumper wire so much it retired on me. LMAO. Seriously thanks. This gives me something to look forward to when my hand is healed. Good thing about having a broken hand is no shoveling if it should snow in my area and it'll be healed by the time the weather starts to warm up.

The thing I don't like about this motor is that fast idle thermo valve is under the throttle body. It was so much easier to get to on my F22. BTW there is plate in the location where the FITV was located on the F22 wonder if I can swap the locations.

                        Obdii

If you can find an obdII tb they do not run FITV.

Why, because they are a pain in the ass lol.

since you are on a chipped ecu the tune can run a higher IACV duty cycle for cold idle, like it does anyway. That is how mine is setup, and worked fine until i broke whatever is causing my current problems lol.

lol. I'm going to relax on it for minute. I'll see what I can do after my hand gets better. But until then it'll sit. I'll start every days and drive around the block but thats about it.
